Want to start Exploring

Hy there Cmdr's,

I've been busy with trading, bounty hunting, smugling, ... and made some nice profit ofc.
So i want to get into exploration and started to ask myself some questions:

-- What ship should i buy?

-- Can i actually sell exploration data from 100's off LY away? Because i had some data on other systems
and was unable to sell them to the station, it said: +20 Ly away blabla...

--Where to go: Up/down -- left or right -- to the center.....???

-----> And 100 more questions i'm not thinking of right now.

The Adder is a nice choice. Once upgraded it'll get you a 21+ly jump range and plenty of room for devices, such as the Detailed Surface Scanner (200k Cr) later down the line. That's when the larger profits start coming in, averaging 20 ~ 25K per system scanned.

You can sell data starting at 20Ly distance minimum. So yes, scan to your hearts content at any range, then sell once you're at a system at least 20Ly away from the system scanned.

Regarding direction. First I'd get a fuel scoop. Then hit the systems which have no current system data. Although it may be showing just one star. You sometimes discover 20+ more bodies within those systems. The more the better the payout.

Also, the basic scanner has a limited range. So keep an eye out for 'wandering stars' while in SuperCruise... Close in on those and hit the scanner again... BLAM... new objects appear.

Don't bother closely scanning asteroid clusters, those, to the best of my knowledge get you no additional income after ID'ing them. Well, unless you're a purist and wish to role-play like I do and extensively surface scan each and everything I come across (in the name of science).. :D
