Wanted and Hostile status

Hi all,

Would anybody be able to give me a detailed definition of what 'Wanted' and 'Hostile' statuses mean in practice?

Since Gamma 2.0, if I am in a hostile system, all police ships seem to attack me instantly - regardless of Wanted status.
Does 'Hostile' status basically mean you are always considered 'Wanted' in that system - regardless of your actual Wanted status?

If so - fine. It didn't seem to do that before Gamma 2.0 (for me anyway), but if that's what is meant to happen - then at least that is clear.

How can I eventually remove Hostile status for a given group?
Do I just not go there for a while and it will go away on it's own? Or do I have to pro-actively do something?

Also, let's say I'm out bounty hunting - having fun etc.
But - oops - a Clean ship fly into my line of fire and now I have a Wanted status...

...what are my options for clearing my wanted status?
Am I right in thinking that I have to get into a station to clear the status?
Am I right in thinking that if I am scanned while entering the station, then the police ships and the station should all open fire on me? No matter how small my fine?

(This seems to be how it is since Gamma 2.0. It wasn't like this for me before, so I'm trying to work out if Gamma 2.0 has fixed things to how they always should have been or not.)

If that's the case...
...no matter how small my fine, I HAVE to try and sneak into the station to pay my bounty and clear the wanted status? Is that my only reasonable option? Are there any other options I'm not aware of?

I really love this game, but I must say I am totally confused about what 'Wanted' and 'Hostile' statuses mean in practice.
I had a nice cash flow going, but trying to get into bounty hunting has basically clean me out, because stations keep blowing me up :) A bit amusing I guess, but also highly frustrating! :(

If somebody can enlighten me, I'd be very grateful.

Cheers,
Rich

If you're hostile to a certain faction it means you've been doing missions for factions that oppose that one or have been attacking members of that faction without doing anything to repair the reputation loss.

You can clear your bounty for accidental assault at any station or outpost. Police forces are very black and white when it comes to crime. If you have a bounty on your head they will shoot, no matter how you came by it.

If you think about it, it does make sense. You're now a wanted man, accident or not so you'll need to get yourself into a station in order to pay it off. Gamma 2.00 has some great improvements for bounty hunting, at least from what I've seen. I'm noticing a much greater number of wanted ships at nav beacons and resource extraction sites and the payout seems to be a bit higher as well, although I did run into a wanted Anaconda with a 530 Cr bounty on his head.
