wanted bounty on you for assulting a fed

i almost had a pirate dead and a fed jumps in front of my fire i hit him in mid stream . there was no way i could put the bullets back in the gun. i tried to run and not kill the guy i ended up dead. i don't really want to be an outlaw yet


in that case do i kill the fed?

how would i stop that from happing again?

there needs to be some kind of minim were accidental fire don't get you killed. what would happen if the fed shot me?

don't get me wrong loven the game but this pizzed me off

Your best bet is to turn around and start charging your drive right away once you hit them, split your energy between your shields and your engines, use boosting and evasive flying, and you should be able to get away before they even drop your shield.

I agree that there should be some lenience given to stray shots. Perhaps the first shot just gets you a warning? And maybe they shouldn't be so zealous about enforcing small bounties. Like if it's a small one they could give you a comms option to either pay on the spot or be destroyed.

Happens a lot, you can get into the station and pay it off if in the contacts menu if you don't want to fly around being the bad guy yet.

Its a real pain in the ass, i had the same thing last night while interdicting a wanted criminal.... nothing in sight... then boom 2 authority vessels flew straight across my my line of fire just as i popped the criminal, you'd think these peeps would know not to fly a ship through a high energy beam... muppets!

on the one hand i got a bounty for killing the criminal.. on the other i'm now a wanted man with a bounty on my head because some muppet likes high energy light shows up close n personal!!!!!!!!

Think i'm going to have a reset and go explore the galaxy until someone fixes the crazy antics of authority vessels that show up in the middle of a fight and stick their noses in where they aint wanted!

I'm also of the feeling that a fed running headfirst into your line of fire shouldn't immediately incur a bounty, it's sort of silly. If you were to bump a cop in the street on accident they wouldn't exactly turn around and shoot/beat you dead on the spot. In Freelancer you could land a couple accidental shots before they got mad at you, which makes a lot more sense given that in a massive firefight there's bound to be a couple stray shots (especially with chaff-disrupted gimbal and turret weps).

I lost 30k worth of cargo. for me that's 2 or 3 nights work

We need;
Higher tolerance of FF. (Especially in the case of friendly relations)
A way to apologise for misfires.
A way to directly pay off small fines for silly stuff like this to the nearest law enforcement vessel.
