Wanted Can not pay bounty.

I had a misshap when enering Hart Station in the Bast System. tried to enter the station but misjudged my entrance and ended up hitting the wall of the station under the entrance and got wedged between the wall and the entrance girders, i tried every thing to dislodge my ship to no avail. and was given a loitering penalty and after 15 seconds was attacked and destroyed by the station. Ok i thought my fault even thought i lost my ship cargo and exploration data cost me probably 1.7 million credits. still my fault and respawned in 39 Tauri. So fedup with my self i stopped playing at this point for a few days. I logged back in today Wed 27th May 2015, Having not died since i was in a Sidewinder probably 5 or 6 months ago i forgot about the fine i had got. i left Hart Station and jumped to Witchhaul another Federation Station and tried to enter the station was scanned near the staion became wanted and was again attacked and destroyed by the federation forces. costing me my insurrance cost 1.2 million credits and my cargo. so again respawned in 39 Tauri, I this time paid my 800 credit fine and travelled back to Witchhaul with no problems entering the station. While i was there i glanced at my right hand screen and saw i had a 600 credit federation dormant fine on me so went to Contacts on the station services and tried to pay my fine as i was in a federation system. Local bounties screen said no criminal record. also my left hand screen transactions no transactions. so i left the station was scanned and again i am now wanted in federation space 600credits. i jumped to Fujin and im in the staion there. is this a bug in the game.or is there something i am missing.

Sneeking in to pay a fine is the best way, if you get spotted via a scan then RUN!!

i have also had the same issue as you regarding false fines which meant I still had a wanted level. Logged off and back in again and the wanted level was gone.

Thanks for your reply, regards Dormant bounty, It appears I could not pay the bounty until I was scanned by the feds and became wanted, jumped to a nearby non Federation station and was able to pay the bounty in Contacts pilot federation tab.

Dormant fines are exactly that - dormant.

IIRC dormant fines exist because they are tied to you not your ship - once the ship explodes the authorities dont know which ship you are in, so the fine lays on file.

As soon as you draw attention to yourself, such as by attracting another fine, the authorities then work out who you are and which ship you are in, and the dormant fine becomes active again.

I always thought that you had to acquire another fine/bounty for dormant fines to become active though, not just get yourself scanned.

I think that once the authorities blow up your ship all fines should be wiped, I mean to the authorities have done their job and your dead in the same way missions fail if your ship blows up the mission giver thinks you died before completing the mission.

No, that would leave it open for exploitation. What's to stop you from racking up a huge fines, then transferring to a cheap sidewinder and commit suicide to clear your debt. (or worse get a friend to kill you for the bounty)
