Wanted: DEAD, Notorious criminal with bad aim. Reward: 200 Cr.

THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS!!!

I'm sorry, was it so hard to make it so that I can pay my goddamn 200 Cr bounty on the SPOT? I mean, I understand if I have an outstanding bounty or something like over 5k, BUT A SINGLE SHOT? I don't know if the update has changed anything about RES bounty hunting, but it seems there's a lot more variety in ships this time around, before it was all Cobras, Sidewinders and Anacondas. Now anything can be wanted. I love it.........BUT IN 30 MINUTES OF GAMEPLAY I had to return FOUR TIMES to the goddamn station to pay my bounty. I mean, as soon as a gimballed weapon misses and hits a cop, even though I'm fighting a wing of criminals, THE WHOLE POLICE FORCE forgets about everything they are doing and a galaxy wide manhunt begins for man that dared drain 2% shield off a random copper.

PLEASE fix this somehow, I dunno how, make it so that bounties bellow 1000 can be paid on the spot, make it so that I can apologise to the NPC, make it so that I can join the damn police force so that a miss is not treated like a declaration of intergallactic war, make it so that I only get a bounty after landing more than 5 hits, or deal more than 10% damage, or at least a warning...just do something because it's ing me the hell OFF.

There should already be in place an allowence for "friendly fire"
in the 1.1 patch (ie previous to todays)

What did you hit the SAV with?
And how repeated was it in what time frame?

Calm down your itchy trigger finger and it'll happen far far less. Don't 'point and squirt', fire in short controlled bursts.

This may be true, but when you sport triple 3C burst lasers, and dual C2 multis... It doesn't count for much.

Not that it happens very often, but it has cut short at least one Anaconda killing spree. Meh, part of the challenge.

A fine would be more appropriate, of course...

Z...

I was just at a nav beacon fighting an Anaconda and hit a neutral none wanted vessel once with a burst laser, got an automatic 400 credit on the spot fine and every man and his dog turned to shoot me instead of the anaconda we were fighting.

Needs to be fixed.

What were you flying and what did you hit the cops with? Before 1.1, if you grazed a cop with a dirty look you got insta-bountied and targeted by every cop and bounty hunter looking to earn that 200cr. In 1.1, though, they changed it so that as long as you didn't do hull damage, it didn't count. Also, if you were allied with the faction you accidentally shot, it would lessen the chance you'd take a bounty.

So, if you hit the shields of a cop and got a bounty, it could be the old rules are back (which will get fixed in the first hotfix for 1.2 I'd bet)... Do you recall if you hit unshielded hull at all before becoming wanted?

I'm just now downloading 1.2 myself, but going to the bug forum with this is a good idea. I seriously doubt they meant to bring the insta-bounties back.

Oh god it happened again.... An Anaconda worth 175k at 65%hp threw chaff, 1 milisecond before I lifted my finger 2 of my lasers hit the same goddamn cop, AND THEY TURNED ON ME AGAIN!!! So I had to leave the bounty, but GET THIS:

When you pay your bounty at the station, THE POLICE DOESN'T GIVE A AND KEEPS ATTACKING YOU ANYWAY. So yeah , I paid my bounty YET AGAIN, but then the whole police force BLOCKED THE EXIT OF THE STATION, before I realized I smashed into them, so I decided to go BACK IN. But I've already gone out, so I needed to request to dock, but at the same time I'm ramming the frikkin station, it gives me like, 10 seconds to unblock the exit, I'm stuck in it's pipes or whatever, the damn cops keep firing on me like I'm the scourge of the universe, and I GET ANOTHER 600 CR BOUNTY.

...Sigh...who, I'm asking WHO thought this 200 cr bounty for a FART IN SPACE WAS A GOOD IDEA?!?!?!?!?!?!

Edit: By the way, during the cluster I still managed to request docking, but of course it was denied because I was blocking the exit for 10 whole seconds.

As for the ship, I'm flying a Viper with 4 lasers. Not that it matters though. And really I have no clue what I hit. All I know is that I didn't target anything other than red, and then suddenly some smartass bot decides it's a good idea to just fly into my firezone.

Old rules are not back. Grazed a shield and nothing happened. Got a one hour session in today, nav beacons seemed more active, for the rest nothing special. If you need to return four times in half an hour you really just need to relax your itchy trigger finger a bit. :)

I have no clue if i hit shields or hull, i didn't have the old chap targeted. But it wouldn't surprise me if the 1.1 fof got written over in the patch.

I haven't had an issue with this since they toned it down in 1.1

Might need to practice your aim and not firing when friendlies are blocking you (as annoying as it is)

So you're saying I should run with Fixed weapons. Well that's just great isn't it, because I suspect if gimballed weapons are pretty much a suicide wish, the turrets must a piece of artwork in that department. I'm sure they are so accurate that the moment you target an enemy you might as well open fire on everyone in the sector, cuz eventually that turret will make them at you for scratching their paint.

Go to an outpost to pay off your fine.
They don't scan you and there are almost never any fuzz about.
If there's one in the same system you're sorted.

I didn't say anything of the sort. I run gimbaled and fixed mix...but what you are using is completely irrelevant. You have to pay attention to the radar and screen while in combat...if other ships are even near your viewpoint you might want to stop firing...move positions.

You just have to be more aware. I can now keep firing when other ships are in my view and I can fire right past them and still not hit them....you just need to learn when to shoot, and where I guess?

I'm not saying the mechanic doesn't suck sometimes, because it does, in fact when I was new and before the 1.1 tweak I had the same issue..but since 1.1 it hasn't happened once...not even in Combat Zones with tons of ships all over the place.

The old answer of trigger control?
Muzzle Direction and trigger control.

Any chance of recording your next forray into battle OP?

This has nothing to do with positioning, I'm shooting link a blinded camel. Gimbaled weapons aren't very precise and always giggle, so when the target suddenly rotates the laser can miss, naturally if some eagot is on the other side the missed shot will hit him instead. You see where I'm going with this? Anything other than fixed is useless if this keeps happening.

With my connection it would take ages to upload, and I'm not about to bother with it. I told you how and what happened, you can either believe me or just give me the default answer to "fix your aim", despite the thread name, I don't have bad aim, I'm using gimbaled cuz thats the only class 2 laser available to me.

And either way, the fact that the police is still hostile after paying your bounty (at least until you leave the sector) and you can get a bounty that is so minute, so pointless, and yet so devastating, still remains. These are bad rules and in my opinion have to be changed.

When I first started playing ED I was grinding credits out of Dalton Gateway and on the way back form a run to Fairbairn station the local Heddllu interdicted me for a routine inspection in deep space. Well I assume it was the Fuzz because I didn't submit (you don't do you?) and I ended up with a 400cr bounty and another attempted interdiction as I got closer to DG and again I evaded. I got permission to land and was just entering the hanger as a message told me some copper was lining up on me for an attack run. I paid the fine at the local office and they left me alone after that but to this day I have no idea what earned me the bounty. I think that a death sentence for minor infringments is a bit harsh................

I am sorry you feel I was questioning the veracity of you statements.
The point of requesting to see a video was that others have reported the allowence for the friendly fire rules were working from them so it was a means to see the situation to see what we were missing and if it was a bug you could then have the ticket point to the video.

eh dude you have to do way more than just hit them.... they changed that ages ago they wont attack unless you keep hitting them again and again...
