I was just bounty hunting at a RES, targeted a ship which was being shot at by all the feds and before my basic ship scan had finished on the guy i opened fire (risky i know, since i cant be 100% sure he's wanted, but its almost certain he is). I gained a bounty for shooting him, but seconds later my scan revealed that he WAS wanted. I had to boost away before i got gunned down, but having 'illegally' shot this guy i was still awarded the bounty when he died (did not shoot after the scan had finished so this was definitely awarded for the 'illegal' hits) .
So i was essentially issued a bounty for attacking a wanted ship just because my scanners hadn't finished their scan. I was wondering if anyone here knows if this is a bug i should report or if it's an intentional part of the game so that we have to scan ships before we shoot, even if they are clearly wanted.
