"Wanted" Status.

Am i corrct in assuming that if you have become "Wanted" for whatever reason,it is just in that one Star System? Also can you get to remove the "Wanted" status?

It depends on what you are wanted for and if that faction controls multiple systems or not. Can be for the one system can be for multiple. It can be easy to become wanted and most the time it is by mistake.

Removing a wanted status, generally:

1. Small infraction, e.g. shot a clean ship but didn't kill it?

Jump out of the system, check bounty status on Transaction panel; usually the time remaining will be around 8 minutes. When the timer reads "On H-Jump", you can go back. Your minor bounty is now a fine you can pay at any station in that system.

2. Major infraction; e.g. you killed a clean guy?

The timer will show a bounty lasting just under one week.

Don't panic. Leave the system. Park and settle your affairs- collect what bounties you can, etc. Because you're about to die.

Buy a super cheap ship. Sidey is cheapest, but get whatever you want. DO NOT BUY A KEELBACK AND EQUIP AN SLF, unless you hate your pilot. But that's none of my business.

Fly back to the system that wants you dead. Let it kill you- specifically, go to a station and let security ships scan you. Then let them kill you. Crashing isn't good enough. I don't remember if self-destruction is? Just let the cops kill you, to be safe.

Your wanted status is now gone, and your bounty is dormant, meaning only that fresh infractions will add the dormant bounty to your total. Rebuy your Sidey, fly back to your good ship, and go on with your day.

Dormant bounties also last one week, but are not a big deal.

If you catch the murder rap, but don't want to die for justice, you can simply not go back there for a week.

However, bounty hunters will hound you throughout known space, and attacking them before they attack you will get you a new wanted status in whatever system they catch you in.

The good news is that if you let them shoot first, they'll go Wanted, and you can dispose of them like the do-gooding, meddling scumbags they are.

Does that also apply to pve? Are there cpu bounty hunters?

Only if you have Report Crimes Against Me switched on in the right panel. I can't emphasize that point enough, a lot of Commanders turn it off when they intend to do some smuggling (or any other nefarious activity that would not require the attention of local authority ships) then forget to turn it on again. They then cry foul & bug report it because the other ship remained clean when it fired upon them so they got a fine/murder bounty for responding in kind, note this is not a bug!

"Report crimes against me" only does what it says on the tin when it is switched on.

Enemies can shoot you until the cows come home & will remain clean if left off!

Thankfully this is on by default because OMG if it wasn't.
