Wanted System Unreasonable

With all due respect, the local system wanted status is absolutely unreasonable. The slightest minimal infraction will put you on a local authority kill on sight list. Just received a 100cr bounty from CN Bootis because I shot a WANTED ship a millisecond before it registered as wanted on my HUD. This resulted in the entire "friendly" allianced patrol to all turn their guns on me, despite the fact their original target was blasting away at them for minutes. This makes no sense and really takes away from the game. Let's not even get into the 400cr bounty and death sentance you get when a "friendly" ship cruises in from offscreen right through your lasers. It seems Im spending more time fleeing from "friendlies" and having to pay bounties and reduce my wanted level than actually playing the game. I try to be as careful as possible, but I shouldn't have to fly on eggshells.

Are there any plans to incorporate a more comprehensive wanted system, whereas there are escalating levels of infractions before you get put on a kill on sight status?

I agree that the small bounty for hitting a ship that flys in front of you, sometimes within meters from behind, as if they planned to do it, and then getting attack/kill for it is ridiculous. Then you have to leave the system for a bit to wait out the wanted time, very frustrating.

The worst place for it is CZ, and having to leave if a ship flies into your fire. There no chance of avoiding it when they come it from behind you.

Hopefully they will look at this issue again, they have adjusted it once before.

I totally agree with this post.

I once heard the Federal police i'm allied with writting "oh a bounty, let's fire", because i had a small bounty by smaller alliance faction on the same system...

But i also so that as soon as you get allied you can hit police shield by mistake and they are not going to turn on you.

Bounty below 1000 cr should only be considered a fine.

No.

It works exactly like FD wanted.

They totally don't see any problems with this system.

Since the 2014 release we got only a slight improvement, that sometimes if you shoot an NPC without targetting them, you might not get an immediate death sentence.

Hey man, cops can play dirty to get you in trouble, like planting drugs. It's the same here, just know what's going on and avoid the dirty cops.

I have discovered a solution that works for me friend. Yesterday, I took a mission for almost 2million that wanted me to kill 18 pirates. The mission targets may or may not be wanted in the system. The very first altercation I was involved in had me on the wanted list,,, not as a murder but an infraction like you are talking about. I became a bit frustrated and just killed all three Pirates and the System Police since they were now shooting at me as well. Dare I say it felt good to just do them all in. Yes, I am wanted, but I feel sorry for ANYONE who gets in my way of the mission at this point. They will ALL be eliminated regardless of bounty or what ever. Fookem all.

Face the facts DarthFett75 spray and pray does not help you. It only hurts you. So when you become wanted maybe you need to learn to play.

1 Use good stereo headphones or surround sound speaker setup. So you can hear every ship come up on you.

2 Use your radar and zoom in. Why. So you can use the sound and Radar to see who coming up on you. So you know when to Stop firing.

3 when you see that your wanted. Get the hell out of there. Don't stop for cookies.

Yeah yeah, learn "trigger discipline", "situational awareness", "watch your radar", heard that before :D

How about if we learn some logical thinking?

This is my favourite design bug (because it resides in the game's designe, not in the code).
Here's another recent topic on this subject, there are many more of them, and everywhere it's the same thing - fanboys defending this [lack of] logic, and people (still, after so many hours of playing ED) trying to use common sense.

The facts here are, that
- the situation when you are punished for shooting at wanted bandits is unnatural;
- even if there was a law against shooting bandits before full scan, there is no (should not be) any way for anybody except you to know if you violated it;
- NPCs are stupid: they fly into our line of fire, (since 1.5/2.0) NPCs like to ram us while scanning
- so, the reality of the current ED gameplay is that these situations cause things like:
This resulted in the entire "friendly" allianced patrol to all turn their guns on me, despite the fact their original target was blasting away at them for minutes.

This indeed makes no sense and really takes away from the game.
IMO, this should be enough reason to change this behaviour because IT CAUSES MORE HARM THAN GOOD.

Tell that those idiot NPCs who think it's a good idea to go full speed ahead when trying to scan your cargo hold :p They always ask "How do you make a living like that", to which I feel an urge to reply, "How do you idiots live at ALL?"

Just yesterday I got wanted for murder because some stupid suicide bomber thought it was a clever idea to go full speed at me with zero shield and only a few % hull left -.-
