Wanting to get into Xeno combat but don't know how...

PS4 pro
Elite, Elite, Dangerous
Experienced daily solo player.
Colonia twice
All engineers unlocked
Imp Cutter, Corvette, and about 26 other ships in inventory.
Credits not a problem - (been doin' some VO mining)

Been PS trophy hunting to fill in time but now my thoughts turn to taking the Xeno threat seriously and I realized that even though I have been playing this sim for many months, I do not know anything about getting in to xeno combat or hunting.
Sure there are plenty of videos and chat but I haven't found anything for someone venturing into this for the very first time.

Any tips or steps one could take to move into this intriguing and somewhat daunting realm of space combat would be greatly appreciated.
Example: Perhaps finding and joining an active Xeno squad that provides training etc might be good...dunno...

Im in the same boat, i found these guides very helpful

I've not started building a ship yet, ideally i don't want to double up on the ships i already own, which is a python and krait mk2

Back when the tharg invasion of the bubble was still fresh, there was a cmdr with a python build that was allowing him to murder record levels of tharg scouts, but unfortunately it looks like I deleted the bookmark I made. I'll see if google will help turn it up.

Most medium or large ships will work here. What you need is something with decent shields and lots of hull (Thargoids have phasing attacks). Don't worry about resistance on either shields or hull as the damage they do is absolute, so military grade composite armour and reinforced engineered shields are recommended.

As for weapons, AX multis are fine for scouts, but you'll need something like some guardian gauss (or plasma launchers if you have class 3 or larger hardpoints you want to fill) and a remote release flak if you're off big game hunting (flak deals with the swarms).

Other useful stuff is a class one decontamination limpet controller, small cargo bay for limpets, shutdown field neutraliser and xeno scanner.

Most things are in outfitters somewhere but you'll need to visit a Guardian weapon site to unlock the gauss weapons first.

Edit- stupid phone not downloading stuff properly. See links above.

You are all more than welcome to come and try out with the PS4 AXI, there are not that many of us really, we could do with some new blood imo, if anyone is interested?

Very help full guys...thanks..
so, you are are docked at Jamerson Memorial, your medium sized ship is equipped with guaus and flak...where do you go to get your first skirmish and survive... ?
to test out and familiarize...

or
is there a station that would make a good home base for beginners?
(for other interested readers of this thread as well)

AXI home system is HR 1185, Cares Tarn has a shipyard (but also pretty high gravity!) the Indra megaship has rearm/repairs.

I have most of my AX fleet at Artemis Lodge in Celeano (possibly spelled wrong, on my phone).

Head out somewhere that way and start on NHSS 3-4 for scouts, NHSS 5 for either a cyclops or quite a few scouts. I would not go above 5 until you get more experianced 👍

greetings commander! allways awesome to see others interested in the bug hunt!
so as you probably read, the most critical thing is really those hull ref (caustic resistant) dont pay too much attention to shields as thargs will make them irrelevant! there are many ships that will short work the bugs so basicly what you want is a medium thats maneuvrable (i reccommend the krait due to its power cap and module capabilities) big ships are great for tanking but the corvette is an exception due to its low armour rating not that it cant be a killer in a team but if youre alone its very dangerous especially because it lacks the speed to outrun bugs! anyways the fighting itself is nothing special, unless you face a glitch\bug they allways do the same thing so i suggest watching someone kill one then you will have an idea - there are a couple of easy procedures and theres even build with shard cannons that can give less than 1 min kills with the right team\ship! if you are on the ps4 and allied with federation i can show you the tricks, but you do have many videos as well! anyways good hunting cmdr! o7

I am just starting out with Thargoid combat as well. Based upon recommendations from Down to Earth Astronomy, I am hunting scouts using a Krait Mk 2 (scouts are fast movers). outfitted with two ax multicannons and three beam lasers. So far , so good... I have taken out about 20 scouts so far.... I also have a xeno scanner, heat sinks, and decontamination limpets.
