War/Civ War Progress Bar (Ceasefire).

Hi.

My primary source of income these days is war profiteering (massacre missions), and like most who engage in it, ceasefires are a constant pain. I understand that they exist due to an issue with the BGS, something to do with faction transitions, so I can appreciate they serve a purpose. I also understand that wars are about influence, and when one faction reaches enough influence, the war is over. However, I still can't find any way of reliably determining exactly how long a war is going to last. This becomes a problem when accepting the larger contracts, as I often take these over the weekend so I can do them the following afternoon if I don't have the time that night, or need a break.

Would it be at all possible to implement a progress bar, perhaps next to the faction status, indicating how far away the faction is from reaching its required influence to win the war? This would allow pilots to gauge how much time they have to get their contracts finished before the CZs become inactive. It would also allow people playing the BGS to identify how needed they are in a certain system if they have an interest in that war's outcome.

Thanks.

A faction will win a war if it's 5% ahead of its rival after the minimum duration has passed (4 full days, then the 5th day of ceasefire)

You can find if either side is currently 5% ahead using the system map, or your right panel - but of course that can change very significantly from day to day depending on how many people are fighting for each side. Essentially, once it's passed the minimum duration it could always go into ceasefire tomorrow depending on how today's fighting goes.

I think the local Galnet articles in the station can be used to find out the date the war started if you don't already know that.

You can also use the "faction status report" in local Galnet to find wars which are about to start, to guarantee that you get in at the start. (War is a top-priority state, so any pending war will go hot 3 days after it first goes pending) This will also find wars between two non-controlling factions which you wouldn't see on the galaxy map.

Thanks for the info.

I'd done a bit of reading and was aware of the 5% difference causing a ceasefire, however as you said, it can change rapidly and I've found the system map and status panel can lag behind quite a bit. I've tried using the galnet, I found it difficult to accurately gauge.

At the end of the day, the suggestion was to make the system more transparent. Having a bar would still be a nice QOL improvement.
