It would be handy that once you become an ally of a minor faction, that, if they become engaged in a war or civil war, they would send you an email asking for some help. Then also be sure to have some readily available massacre missions handy to be taken care of via combat zones.
This would let us know when a war starts and that it may last a while if we head over there right away. Thereby giving us time to do a few missions for an already allied faction.
Bugs me when I look for a system at war and then by the time I get allied status to get the good paying missions the war comes to an end.
Also it would be handy in the case of systems with multiple wars to have some indication of which combat zones are relevant to the missions one is working on.
Now I know some people don't want messages not relevant to what they are doing cluttering their message box so add a toggle/ filter to ignore them.

Perhaps being able to monitor certain faction(s) so that if they entered a conflict state you'd get a message would be a better approach to take?
