War in Luyten's Star!

Sirius Free has taken to a war with Sirius Corporation! Now is the time to help them! A free Democratic Sirius could mean the disappearance of the Sirius Permit! Wouldnt that be great for anyone grinding Palin? Let us help Sirius Free and fight against the Mega-Corporation of Sirius Corp's government branch!

Further, this means a Federation aligned Sirius. Sirius Corporation has a near monopoly on generators and they build most of our ships! They've been benefiting from wars between the alliance, federation, and Empire for to long! Stand with me Commanders in Sirius Free's struggle to make a Democratic FREE Sirius!

Seriously, what do you have to lose? Let us make our own gameplay and player events now that Drew's stuff is over with.

DISCLAIMER: I DONT KNOW IF FDEV WOULD REMOVE THE PERMIT, BUT IT COULDNT HURT TO GAIN SUPPORT AND PRESS THAT PARTICULAR ISSUE!!

Would this really mean the removal of a permit locked system? Would FD allow that? Because if so, I am in. I would love to help overthrow that sort of stuff.

Dont know until we try! Maybe with enough people supporting the idea of removing the permit and showing that we are willing to take action in game to do it, they would actually remove it.

uhm, no. sirius as well as other permit systems have been flipped before, neither the permit giving faction depends on system allegiance, nor the permit itself. you could maybe try to force sirius corporation into retreat of all systems outside of sirius ... good luck with that ;-)

No.

No.

I believe my idea is to get Frontier to see and have them physically remove the permit. Perosnally, I think its an insult as you grinded your off to get there and then you have to gain a permit to access the next engineer, whose pretty much worthless. Everyone does it for Palin, not Qwent, He is literally just sort of there. Its horrible game design. Palin should be the permit locked one if anything because of how valuable she is.

Basically, Placing Qwent in Sirius prolongs your grind. Its called a Time Sink, and most games actually try on purpose to have time sinks like this. Its considered "Good game development" but in this particular case, I think it just makes the entire grind just that much more painful.

Note that I barely even bother with Engineers due to how horribly grindy it all is. Yo Dawg, I heard you like grinding content so Fdev put grind in yo grind so you can grind to unlock content then grind to get the actual thing you wanted which helps you grind more!!

Many of he permit systems aren't controlled by the permit faction. Only once as this ever caused a problem. This was Phekda where the permit system was given away to a player faction.

Optionally, we could have a CG to place one of these in Outfitting. It would work in a similar fashion as the FSD interdictor and have it's own keybind. When attempting to FSD to a permit locked area, you could trigger the device, which would hack the permit system and allow entry.

No, it will not automatically remove the permit, or change the faction responsible for issuing the permit. Permits are linked to factions, not systems. If you need a Lore explanation for this, the faction pays Universal Cartographics billions of credits per year to get the system lock put in place, and that lock stays in place while the faction continues to pay the bill.

FD have removed "impossible" permits before. There was an Anarchy faction in Phekda which issued a permit for there. Then FD manually inserted a new NPC faction into control of the system (the Ancients of Mumu, which are not, apparently, a player faction) which seemed to totally trash the permit mission allocation. Whatever the reason was, the practical upshot was that nobody could get a Phekda permit any more, so FD then removed the permit. (lore explanation: the anarchists in Phekda ran out of cash, so Universal Cartographics revoked the permit)

I highly doubt FD would do something like that in Sirius, though. Sirius Corp is Lore, with a capital L. They're supposed to be the biggest, baddest corporate overlords in the galaxy, it doesn't make sense that they'd be pushed around by a handful of two-bit indie pilots. If you and a bunch of other players did manage to gang up on Sirius and boot them out of everywhere, FD would probably just give them a new empire via another colonization CG so they'd go off and build another Sothis, rather than remove the permit. FD put the Engineer in Sirius because it had a permit. FD have said in the past that all of the permits exist for a reason, even if that reason is not apparent to us yet. So the reason Sirius had a permit in the first place was to "protect" the engineer there.

Personally, I always side with Lore. So I always do everything I can to ensure that Sirius itself is under the control of Sirius Corp. Surrounding systems, of course, should all belong to the Federation, so go ahead and try to push Sirius out of control of Luyten's Star if you want to.

However, I should also point out that you will also be actively opposed by people who say "We should be making it easier, not harder, for newbies to gain the Sirius Permit, so we should be trying to give more systems to Sirius Corp control, not fewer.". Here's a thread from a few weeks ago, asking people to do this very thing in the Luyten's Star system.

...Palin should be the permit locked one if anything because of how valuable she is...

Hate to break it to you, dude, but Palin's a guy.

I think Histarium meant Sarah Palin, she's the valuable one!

Just a joke, the valuable one is Michael Palin.

Sirius permit is easily obtained camping a Resource Extraction site. Couple of hours fun blowing things up and you have access.

That said, how a faction can still retain use of a permit-lock in a system that they have been dethroned.......well then, I suppose only FD understands that logic.

We need a real time streaming Youtube channel for these type of Events. A radio program that interviews the different factions and players and even play some of their vids or links to their vids.

The radio chatter would be great to have in the background when we go to war! Getting news and status updates and where to get beer and other war related food.

But that would require some pretty good radioshow hosts being available for a couple of hours at an end.

"That interview with CoR was amazing... but now over to you Carl, with the space weather.... I hear we have electromagnetic storms near Luyten's Star?"
"Thats right Jim! ..... ( and the show goes on ). ... And now over to the UFO report with UFO investigator Peter Davenport of the National UFO Reporting Center"
