War of Lugh Commemorative Dog Fighting Tournament Mostly Harmless Version - 2 mil credit prize*
I am commissioning a dog fighting contest to the members of the Mercs of Mikunn in commemoration of our participation in the War of Lugh. This will be a bracket style tournament and whoever wins will receive a 2 million credit purse*.
Remember this is a friendly tournament. It is designed to help pilots practice their piloting skills to better prepare themselves for future engagements. It will be a shoot to kill tournament. I want to simulate as much of a real dog fight as possible.
Rules of Engagement
The contest will start at a distance of 5 km (out of firing range for all weapons) and begin when the CMDR’s involved agree to start. A winner will be determined when any one of the following goals have been accomplished:
Ships allowed in contest:
Weapons allowed in the contest
Modules not-allowed in contest
Disqualifications:
Rules for Referees
How will we know you won
There will be 1 of 3 ways to verify the victor.
Misc.
Who can participate
For now this contest is only open to Mercs of Mikunn which are listed as a Merc as of March 26th 2015. As mentioned before, I do have plans to expand this contest but for now only Mercs can participate.
How to apply for contest.
You will need to submit you CMDR name to this thread stating your intentions to participate, as well as a screenshot of your rebuy cost. I will also need the ship loadout that you plan on using to verify rebuy cost. You will need to do this by using the following link:
http://www.edshipyard.com/
When you have duplicated your ship specs it will produce a unique web link. Post that link. This can be submitted to me privately if you wish to keep your loadout a secret from your opponents.
Enrollment will be until April 10th with matches scheduled to begin shortly after.
How your opponents will be chosen.
Seeding will be based on your combat rank. Highest ranked members will be placed as far from each other as possible to insure they only meet if they manage to get to the final rounds. Also. mid to lowest ranked members will be evenly distributed across the bracket to insure no branch of the tournament is easier than another. I will randomly seed the bracket according to this method. I will start with all members ranked Elite and randomly choose each one. Then Dangerous, Competent, ect, ect down to Harmless.
The reason for this is that I want to keep the contest interesting for both those that are involved as well as those spectating. Everyone loves an underdog and your combat rank may not be a true representation of your skill. Elite could mean that you have just had a lot of time to kill a lot of ships but don’t perform at an Elite level. The opposite is alternatively true. You may be somewhat new to the game and haven’t had time to progress your rank but you compete at Elite level regardless. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
This is not a disadvantage to the less experienced. There is no prize for runner up so it won’t matter if you lose in the 1st round or the 6th. Either way you lost.
I will know your rank with the screenshot of your rebuy.
Mitigating the chances of cheating
Your ship loadout will be given to your assigned opponent before the match begins. Each participant will have the opportunity to review modules installed on each others ship before the contest begins.
If a change is discovered in ship load out the options will be.
You will not have access to any other CMDR’s loadouts other than the one you are currently against.
Disputes
If you do not agree with the outcome of one of your matches or would like to file a complaint, it will be assigned an unbiased moderator. Your dispute must be done in writing with any relevant facts and/or opinions included in submission. Facts or opinions mentioned after initial submission will not be considered. Dispute must be filed within 24hrs after match.
How will the champion collect his/her reward
A transfer of palladium will be arranged in private group between the victor and CMDR Deathmagnet at a then to be disclosed location.
Alternatively it would be nice if the devs catch wind of this contest and agree to facilitate the transfer for us.
Message from the sponsor
Of course, I too, will be participating in this tournament. I plan to have a lot of fun with it and I do need to at least try to protect my 2 million credits : )
Donations
I, CMDR Deathmagnet, do plan to put up the entire purse if necessary. You are free to donate to the tournament if you wish. If you would like to donate hit me up on teamspeak or in game and we will arrange a palladium transfer.
*Any donations over 10mil credits received will be added to the overall purse. Final purse amount will be announced at beginning of tournament. Sponsor will guarantee a 2 mil credit purse minimum. If donations exceed 2 mil credits sponsor will donate 500k credits to overall purse size. Sponsor will retain a 5% admin fee against the purse for sponsoring, organizing and running the contest.
Thank you in advance for any donations.

The contest will start at a distance of 5 km (out of firing range for all weapons) and begin when the CMDR’s involved agree to start. A winner will be determined when any one of the following goals have been accomplished:
- When opponent dies.
- Opponent frame shifts out of instance
- Opponent calls and end to the contest (taps out)
Ships allowed in contest:
- Sidewinders
- Eagles
Weapons allowed in the contest
- Any. I want you to fight with what you like fighting with.
Modules not-allowed in contest
- None. All are allowed
Disqualifications:
- Switch hitting. You must complete the contest with the ship that you submitted as the one you will be using. You will not be allowed to switch ships to try to match the best ship to use against the one your opponent is using. This includes your weapon and module loadouts. The ship you submit must be the ship you fight with from the beginning to end of tournament. The are 2 reasons for this. 1. It goes against the spirit of the contest. 2. In live engagements you will not always be able to choose what ship you fight or what loadout your ship is configured.
- Jumping out of instance and back in to refresh your shields.
- The use of any hacks, cheats, exploits or mods. If you think your opponent used any of these items you will be entitled to a rematch with a referee present.
- Winging up / ganking. This is an individual contest to test an individuals skills. I do plan on expanding this contest and having some version of a 2,3, and/or 4 man winged contest.
- If a match has not occurred within 4 days of it being assigned, the match will be reviewed. Either a CMDR or both will be disqualified depending on who was considered at fault in the review.
Rules for Referees
- Do not interfere with the contest. Try to maintain a distance of 4-6km.
- Must be approved by Deathmagnet, Monte Fisto, Wolfgang, or Lui Kang.
- Recording the match is highly preferable but not required.
How will we know you won
There will be 1 of 3 ways to verify the victor.
- The victor posts on forum that they won with proof, in the form of a screen shot.
- The defeated CMDR admits defeat in the forum
- CMDR claims victory without proof and defeated CMDR does not challenge the claim within 24hrs.
Misc.
- It is recommended you wing up with your opponent so that you can easily be placed in the same instance. Then obviously break the wing for the contest.
- Please complete your match in a timely manner so as not to delay the progression of the tournament.
- Nose punching (when a CMDR purposely runs into you to knock your shields down and/or kill you) is allowed . I contemplated on banning this move, but in a real fight this is a valid tactic. Also, if you are playing an opponent that has the ship mass to perform a nose punch, trying to avoid it will be good practice.

If a change is discovered in ship load out the options will be.
- Offending CMDR will be given 4hrs from discovery of infraction to equip with proper modules. (It is recommend each player keep a copy of the http://www.edshipyard.com/ generated link for personal review of submitted load out)
- Non-offending CMDR can agree to continue contest with no penalty to offending CMDR.
- If the non-offending CMDR requests for offending CMDR to fix load out and offending CMDR refuses, offending CMDR is automatically disqualified.
You will not have access to any other CMDR’s loadouts other than the one you are currently against.
