So...I might have a Vulture, but I'm not really a PvP kind of player. However, tonight I figured I'd head on over to Lave with Vera (my dual-pulse Vulture) and see what was occurring - I've easily got enough cash in the bank for 40 or 50 rebuys, so now's as good a time as any.
When I get there, there's only one clean CMDR in a Clipper, so I left him alone while I got interdicted by a Fed. Stupidly, I didn't wait for him to fire on me, and ended up with a bounty in Lave as an introduction to the authorities. Ace.
Anyway, back in SC...I notice a couple of CMDRs...the Clipper and a Cobra. They both disappear, and the Clipper comes back a couple of minutes later. Hmmm, doesn't sound like that was a fair fight. Shortly after, he picks on a Viper. Nope, definitely not fair.
A few minutes pass, and it's just me and him. I'm not moving, and I can see him flying around me, clearly thinking about having a pop. I spot a USS, so I drop out of SC and get my guns out ready, in case he's thinking about ambushing me while I'm already in a fight - fortunately, it's just a T-9 in there, so I wait...
...and there he is. Shields at maximum, guns out, ready to go...he fires first, with beams and bursts. I realise I'm probably on a hiding to nothing, but it should be a good test of my dancing skills if nothing else...
...two passes and about 20 seconds later, his shields are down and he's at 80% hull. ???? He's turning slow, so clearly hasn't got the hang of FA-off and thrusters in the clipper, and he's missing me with the guns all over the place (I don't even have a chaff launcher!).
NOTE: If I'd had my brain engaged, I would've dragged him closer to the T-9 so he couldn't escape into SC quite so quickly. Alas, I apparently can't brain today.
He runs for his life, and I miss him with a ram attempt so he gets into SC OK. I follow, but end up in a different instance...dammit. Didn't catch up with him until he was just inside the station's no-fire zone.
My question is this: do I count that, my first proper PvP encounter, as a success or a stalemate?
I did hover outside the station for a bit to see if he'd come out, and chucked a few insults his way in case that enticed him. Nope. It does make me chuckle, though. Big, bad Clipper scared of an itty-bitty li'l Vulture
