can anyone suggest an alternative to fraps? the free version only records for 30 seconds and i've already lost one anaconda while fumbling for the record button :(

I have one vid that shows me docking at full speed but it only shows me going though the slot, none of the build up or even much of the slow down after :(

plus i think i pushed the framerate too high, its as jumpy as a drug dealer at a DEA convention :(

If youve got an nvidia card shadowplays great !

oh well, back to the drawing board :(

Bandicam is a free recording program that lets you record 10 minutes of gameplay but leaves a large watermark on top your recording. It's $39 (£23) for a licence if you want unlimited recording times and no watermark.

Mirillis Action Costs money but comes with a free trial which would be handy for your purposes.

Hope this helps.

@OP The Mighty Anaconda Trailer Shows an anaconda leaving a station. Try to match the position in the video when leaving.

Try using Ppen Broadcast Software (OBS) it is designed of rstreaming, but can stream to the local disk which makes it an excellent, and FREE recording tool.

Anaconda is fat at the bottom not the top. So ... get it position right and go real slow if you are new to the anaconda... and remember to follow the station's rotation on slow exit ;). Plenty of room I assure you that!

I do agree that a docking interface like Mephane suggested would be a good addition for the bigger ships.

Also, hull cams :D

While in reality I really can see any station in the future letting an independent contractor navigate a vessel into their working station unless it's fully automated under the stations control.

Putting that aside, as I really like docking, I think a docking assist computer would be great.

I don't want an auto docker, but it would be nice to have a computer that would bring up,it's display on the HUD as soon as you were in the no fire zone of a station. Giving you a recommended flight path into the dock entrance, even if it was a curve pointing around the other side of the station as you approached the wrong direction. Also like a current projection display, to estimate where your vessel will be if it keeps it's current flight path.

Top that off with as soon as you are through the entry hatch, for a recommended flight/glide path be displayed for your assigned pad, which would place you a little above the pad.

While I have never been any bigger than the type 9, I find it easy enough, though I do admit that when I first brought it, I flew out, turned around and flew back in (scrapping the shields) with it empty, just to test it's Clarence before stocking up with cargo.

When I bought the Anaconda and exited the station didn't have much trouble, not even a scratch.
I went with 10% speed and aimed for the center of the station entrance.

Try making small adjustments with your maneuver thrusters, and keep in mind that the impact warning alarm will be yelling at you whatever you do so just aim carefully and ignore the warning.

The only time I had "problems" was with the type 9, scraping almost any time but it never did any damage since OF COURSE I have shields.

The Anaconda doesn't cause me any problems docking, whatsoever. Even in the case of accidental scraping...so what?

If you lost entire ships due to weird docking...I have no idea what you do wrong? (By the way...my max speed/throttle entering a station is 60, 50 even to be on the safe side. Simply because flying slow also gives me enough reaction time when I see a NPC or something all of a sudden coming out) Maybe your speed is too high?
