Warzone Missions

I have started to find a new mission. The text says there is conflict in a system, go and defeat the 'Warzone' pilots. I go to the system and there are no conflict zones, and U.S.S.'s don't seem to spawn them. Does anyone know the secret to cracking these little beauties?

Sometimes war zones are not visible from the star/nav point. When you arrive in the system check on the system status panel - see if there is a CW mentioned between two factions. If there is you may have to explore a bit to locate it. If one of the factions controls a station - start there.

Beware, if you care about faction you should not do warzone missions in their current state!
You might get negative faction with the people you are trying to help.
They should really deactivate these missions until they fixed this bug.

I took the same mission last night. I was supposed to hunt "warzone pilots" in the Chamunda system. I jumped to the system and there were no conflict zones for me, either, so I started circling between Chamunda A, Chamunda B and Gidzenko Ring to see if a conflict zone would appear.
After about 30 minutes of doing only that, I decided to start dropping into USS's but the only thing I found there were Federal ships, some wanted Eagles (who didn't count toward my mission progression) and a contract update to abandon my hunt.
Naturally, I didn't abandon my quest, so I started interdicting wanted pilots. I killed anything from Sideys to Anacondas, but still nothing. Finally, I went to the nav beacon and started killing any and all wanted ships there. After wasting about 7-8 Cobras and Vipers and 3 Anacondas, my timer ran out and I couldn't complete the mission.
I don't know what the problem is, but I probably won't be taking on any more warzone missions until I have a better understanding of how they work.

Can someone provide an explanation, please?

You're meant to go to Conflict Zones for those ones. If Factions in the target system are in a state of Civil War, CZs should appear somewhere in the system.

If the Conflict Zones are not there then it sounds like a bug. Or maybe the Civil War ended between picking up the Mission and you arriving at the system? Still seems buggy though.

speaking of the conflict zones.. the few times I was at a conflict zone I was pretty confused. When you arrive at a conflict zone, even with a mission all ships are shown as neutral. But WHO exactly should I attack. Also there doesnt really seem to be different factions that fight each others. For me it seemed like there are just a lot of ships fighting each others.

Do you just randomly pick randomly a ship, attack it and kill it?

I took a Warzone mission in Riedquat. Done one there before so I know the conflict zones are at the farthest out planet, Riedquat 6. As I get closer to Riedquat 6, two conflict zones show up on the scanner (low and high density). I drop into the low density zone and get get ready to choose the faction to fight for. Except one problem. There are dozens of ships flying around, all orange, but not allied to factions. They fly around aimlessly. I keep trying to choose a faction on the functions panel. No joy. All the ships remain orange, just circling around. So I SC out of there. Check the scanner, the conflict zones are gone to be replaced by "debris" and "checkpoint". Fly to Riedquat 5, Riedquat 4, Riedquat 3, Riedquat 2, back to Riedquat 6. Jump out the system, back in again. Same thing. Abandoned the mission.

In your Right hand menu panel, in the screen with Landing Gear controls, Cargo Scoop controls etc, you have a "Faction" option at the top of the list whenever you enter a CZ. Click here and it will list the factions fighting, and you can choose one to join.

Go to your right UI panel, and at the Functions pane, check the first option. I think its called "Faction". It should open, displaying the factions currently fighting. Pick one (careful here). All the others go hostile and the fight begins.

You need to select what faction you want to fight for.

The option for that is on the right hand panel where you select options for your ship (like hud brightness and orbital lines) the faction selection is at the top.

Once you select a side all friendly ships will be marked green and all hostile ships red.

From what I've read, Conflict zones should appear near a station (or planet). Chamunda consists of 2 stars, 1 planet and a station orbiting it. As I said, no CZs appeared anywhere.

I also think it's impossible that the Civil War simply ended by the time I got there, because I picked up the mission in Eravate, which is just 2 jumps away from Chamunda. It took less than 2 minutes to get there.

Oh well thanks for the tripple answer :D

Its kinda awkward tho. Does it matter, for the mission, which faction you choose? If so, the faction you should attack should be named in the mission to. Not just "kill some warzone pilots". Feels kinda like "oh we dont care as long as you shoot some of those troublemakers we are fine"

I might have to try again picking a faction. I simply shot a ship at random and before I knew it everybody was shooting me. Got a million plus repair bill and didn't even finish the 14K mission.
