META DISCUSSION Was the Golconda CG good gameplay?

The gameplay was the same as any other hauling cg I guess - decent, mildly enhanced with a bit of role-playing, greatly enhanced by co-op.

The actual experience on ps5 was beyond abysmal though, I experienced at least 20 crashes, including blue screens when the game just closes, purple sidewinders, or getting stuck in the starting supercruise animation (including multiple times when trying to supercruise back to my already scheduled to jump FC in a supply system, leaving me with a painful, interdiction-filled journey back with fuel stops on the way 🙄).

FDev have made their feelings on console clear, but it was still pretty unfortunate that there was no stress testing on already buggy platform before unleashing the biggest gold rush of all time. It was barely playable at times on ps5. Even a bit of light touch role-playing as a hauler wasn't feasible with so many immersion-destroying crashes.

I've been playing NMS and the community events are fun, multifaceted, multi stage, add new gameplay elements, use existing mechanics in fresh ways, and last for 6 weeks. This is just a personal frame of reference thing for me, but A-B hauling in as large a ship as you have CGs do feel lacking for me now. I loved the ammonia world one and even bounty hunting is nice and more freeform. Hated the data ones for the nearly 30 minutes needed in menus just convert a full bucket of g5 data. If I do transfer to PC, I'd love to see a bit more creativity and variety in the CGs. I proposed a race through the Colonia Bridge before, but like a rally so you can participate at any time in like, 4/5 weeks. Or something like, a thargoid signal has been detected on X planet - go there with research limpets and investigate. That signal points to another location. Scripted hyperdiction on the way - you can choose to fight for an extra reward, or to escape if you're not kitted out for AX combat. Next location is an ammonia world outside of the bubble, so a decent mini exploration trip that can be tackled with speed, or some scanning and explo on the way. Arrive at ammonia world, need a dss to scan it, the dss picks up a scripted / hand placed pro AX pirate fleet carrier in very low orbit. CMDRs can then blast the pirates for extra bounties, defend them from CMDRs for role-play, scan them to unlock their thargoid secrets and sell that data, or work with combat pilots to scoop up all the dropped cargo from the pirates, and sell that. All the kills, scans and sales contribute to the overall cg as well as the CMDRs wealth / rank / mats etc.

Rich FC owners could contribute by pitching up in FCs with full outfitting and shipyard services and low tariff on rearm etc.

So yeah, dunno just a bit more creativity and variety in the cgs please. I have been spoiled by the NMS community events (and fluidity of gameplay, instant FC jumps, base building, mechs and planetside vehicles, underwater gameplay etc) but hauling from A-B just doesn't really cut it for me anymore.

I've been having similar problems on PC Horizons with the bounty hunting CG in the same system. I wonder if this is a Horizons issue rather than a platform issue. Things seem more stable in Solo, but I don't do community goals to be alone.

It was a very nice experience, it felt like some kind of party and I felt solidarity among people who were loading/unloading carriers and screaming offers via the system chat. I haven't feel that kind of community in a eh... community goal since that instellar initiative years ago when the station to deliver for the Alliance was about 100,000 ls away and those on it were trying to don't go mad trying to meet the target.

I hope we have a similar experience again soon.

That was in the build up to establishing, and repairing, and then repairing again the stations out in the Witch Head where B*******m became the most hated cargo in the game and a banned word. Or have I got my IIs mixed up.

It was nefarious gameplay. All people had to do was look up a supply station in Inara and mindlessly haul from point A to point B. This has made commanders who only have been playing mere weeks get the same credit balance as a player who has been playing since pre-horizons.
All there people have lost all the sense of achievement that the game comes with. They have effectively completed one (or more) parts of the game without any effort on their part.

Speaking of gameplay, I don't want to start a new thread for this, so perhaps someone can answer my question here. If I want to buy tritium using in-game tools only (no EDDB), what type of systems do I look for?

I think it was that, I only enjoyed the first one despite (or perhaps because) it turned out to be an unachievable goal but we tried anyway (and failed, actually), but even some feds and imps helped, even more amazing was that gankers left us alone that one time.

Orbital stations with a refinery economy.
Last night I did some trading (basically emptying my carrier of stuff I no longer need) but I avoided the 3rd party tools. I actually found the process more enjoyable, albeit also more work. I had to go out and explore surrounding systems to find the best prices for myself, which made the Bubble feel bigger and more "real" than if I just looked up the best prices online.

The main reason I abandoned the 3rd party tools is because often those 3rd-party prices are out-of-date when I arrive, and I even think there is some data poisoning going on because there are some crazy prices listed that nowhere near match reality. This is not a criticism of the tools (what the developers did is amazing), but I do think sometimes these tools take away from "good gameplay" rather than add to it. For me, finding the best price was more enjoyable (a form of exploration) than hauling the cargo once I did.

There are a few commodities which can get absolutely ridiculous (but real!) prices if the right 3 or even 4 BGS states coincide. Usually only lasts a day or two, and if you show up after it's over you wouldn't believe the prices had been anywhere near that.

Ceramic Composites - buy for a few hundred, normally sell at 800ish, common favourable state can push to 2000ish, can get to 8-10000 easily enough ... in ideal circumstances can briefly get close to 30000/tonne.

Or Bauxite - normally nearly worthless, buy for 600 or so, sell for 2000 or so normally, can spike to 45000/tonne in rare circumstances but again not for very long.

I've not seen evidence of deliberate poisoning but it certainly could happen.

For me it was not just the money it was also the encoded mats that I collected whenever leaving the stations, almost wore out my long range frame shift wake scanner and had to make several trips to a local mats trader to cross trade and even stocks up.
