Watch out... Win10 forces nvidia update

Thanks. I guess that would make far too much sense to add the framerate indicator in the HMD. :p

I think you can get the frame rate in the HMD using the Oculus debug tool. TBH, if I want to see the framerate, which I don't typically, I just peek through the gap above my nose. :D

Game became unplayable after last Nvidia update (388.13)
i7-870
GTX570
8GB
I know it's bit ancient, but come on ...
Now I have 8 (eight) fps in normal space.
I'll wait until it's fixed. Now trying to play is just too frustrating.

I haven't noticed anything bad with my card performance since the 1709 update..

only thing that did break was my soundblaster z which I had to reinstall.

oh and also double log in problem which is apparently a known bug.

I've figured it out. It's drivers fault 100%. It cut down frequencies on GPU 15 times!
GPU 750MHz down to 50MHz
Memory 1000MHz -> 67,5MHz
Shader 1500MHz -> 100MHz
No wonder I had 8 fps :)
I've used procedure from geforce forum mentioned earlier to remove 388.13 and block it from installing again.
I've installed 372.90 as this was closest one to last driver that was working.

The latest driver from nvidia is 388.31 NOT 388.13!
And on my system when windows did it's fall update last week it did not change my nvidia driver(left it at what it was at that time)!

388.13 caused me significant stability issues with hard crashes in and out of game, but the latest 388.31 seems to have fixed these problems. i7 970 GTX.

I ahven't had any problem with the latest nVidia chipset drivers.

On a related note: GeForce experience is crap and should not be downloaded, so manual driver updates are essential in order to avoid nVidia bloatware.

After reading this thread I checked my drivers. 388.13.
Seems good.
I have 361.43 in my downloads folder. Maybe Win10 slipped me an update.
My eyes ache a lot, I have noticed. Better check my framerate. (I am 71 and eyes aren't any younger)

I'd definitely look to upgrade to the latest, 388.31, as the .13 driver has seemed to cause quite a lot of people issues.

My FPS is still 60. My monitor is an LG Flatron W2442PA and max is 60hz. I had thought of trying to overclock it some time back, but I think I found this to be impossible.

As far as the drivers go, maybe I should leave well enough alone. But .......
Most of my GPU upgrades have been "Slap it on top"
And that hasn't been a problem so maybe I'll take your advice. Maybe! Maybe, if it is WHQL! :D

I'm running the .31 version and it's fine... But we are talking about VR specifically here, as the drivers can seem to cause stuttering and juddering when using a HMD so either rolling back or going forward to a newer working version can make the world of difference. If you're on a monitor and not having issues then the .13 drivers may not be affecting you negatively. :)

However, the .31 version seems to be solid, so no harm in having the most recent.

You should be fine.
Upgrading from one version to the next is usually not an issue, 999\1000 times, the driver cleaning or whatnot is only really needed if you for some reason would need to downgrade from a current version to an older one.
