Watching the docking bay

Hello pilots!

Im new to the game and the forum, so if i post in the wrong place, please move the thread.

I wish there was a feature like a docking bay coffe shop with a view, so i can sit with a cup of tea and watch ships docking, failing at docking, undocking, hitting the walls, being torn apart by station security for accidentaly firing their weapons, trucks moving the cargo, landing pads activating etc. I know it must sound boring, but i would really love that (hell, some people like truck simulators, nothing more boring than that!). It would be great to have a break, if we could also scan the ships in the hangar (some remote scanner controller?), it would be great for ambushing the wanted pilots, for example.

Also, i would love to be able to zoom my view a little, just a bit to look into details of ships in my vicinity.

What do you guys think?

I suspect most of those sort of features would come with the whole EVA / Planetary Landing expansion. Of course, Vision Enhancement and Scanning could be a module now.

I agree with the OP. A place to watch the goings on in the docking bay would be amazing.

Nice place to go AFK really....

I really like the idea of just idly watching the station activity whilst relaxing and enjoying your beverage of choice. A lot of work has gone into the station interiors, but it's largely unseen.

Surely it can't be so difficult to give us a camera view of the station interior? Ultra-low priority though I guess.

Once we have the ability to walk around in stations, which is possibly one of the future expansions, you might get your wish ;)

It would help if the scanner was visible when docked. I would like to pick out nearby ships and try and chat with them. I'd also like to see what's happening around the bay when I hear explosions, laser fire etc. The ship view is never quite good enough. How about a camera on the pylon at the far end which we could hack into?

Or even some indication on the left-hand contact display indicating whether or not a contact is human, and perhaps its docking status.

Watching the docking traffic is one of the amusing parts of the game. I can see some ring side seats with shouts of "wooah!" and "ooach" coming from the crowd...over cups of coffee of course!

I can't believe no one has posted this one already.

Has anyone else noticed the walkway that circles the docking bay? When we can eva, I think I'll be spending a little time there watching the world go by.

Until you come back and see the message 'Killed by Commander X, (he gets around y'know), boosting into the cafe'

joking aside, yeah, would be great.

Dude, i`ve spent more than half an hour watching the landscape of the ring station moving slowly below me (well, above me actually). You know, the type with the transparent roof, grass, trees and buildings... Awesome.
