Water Giant

From CMDR ZENITH

I've also just backtracked to listen to a Water Giant. It has the same running/trickling water sound, but overlaid with the sound of harsh wind blowing, like an icy world. It doesn't have the regular plucked string sound, so that's how you can distinguish a Water Giant from a Water-based life bearing gas giant.

I'm going to write a quick guide with planet sounds from system map now, that goes with its twin thread about supercruise sounds made by CMDR Murishani.

make sure you tell us the best settings we can have for listening to these :)

Just browsed through my notes and remembered that if one wants to see a water giant near inhabited space, then one should target HIP 63835. O5V + 3 black holes + water giant and all the usual suspects. (Full scan gave me 114k CR before the devalvation patch, but we're not in it for the money!)

(Please correct if my notes aren't in order. They are a mess.)

Yes, you are right but there are Water Giants even in the colonized space so they are not that difficult to find - look eg. in the Federation systems HIP 110773 and Epsilon Serpentis.

you MUST have stellar cartography music enabled (technically theyre musical tracks in the game files) nothing else is required to hear them, but enabling "night time mode" is helpful as the system map sounds are VERY subtle, you will have to pay attention. If youre talking about the in-cockpit ambient tracks Im collecting, generally its best to disable exploration music and drop out of SC near the object and then just look at it, youll hear it.
