Newcomer / Intro way to prevent enemy from jumping

Hi!

Is there way to prevent enemy from jumping? And can other players send money to others?

In eve, allways warp scrampled ppl and asked lil cash to let them leave alive..
Those fun times..

Abandoning cargo (different from regular jettisoning, do it from your cargo HUD) and letting your friends scoop it up is about the only way to give cash to other players.

As for keeping an enemy from jumping - bigger guns that do more damage faster ;)

You can mass-lock them by getting really close, but it really works good with a "massive" ship. Also you can damage their FSD or power to make it malfunction...or destroy it, but then they will be stuck out there in space...forever! Scary!

If you fight at a resource extraction point instead of nav points or open space, the asteroids around you will tend to mass lock smaller ships so they can't jump right away, they have to leave the asteroid field first.

pop another interdictor at them when they try to jump, you are warned that they are trying. The other alternative is what mossfoot said, bigger guns.

Other than that, it's the only way they can escape if they are shot up to badly to continue fighting.

Eve is hardcore with no chance if you're webbed and scrambled and I'd hate for this game to become as hardcore as Eve. There has to be some way to escape for those who can't PVP very well like myself, otherwise I can see a lot of players who will stop playing completely.

mass factor from being close and heavy delays jumping while being near large (massive) celestial bodies like planets stars or inside asteroid belts will prevent FSD jumps until the target clears the body ~1-5km. Target FSD modules from the left UI panel once you have the target locked. Left UI > Sub Target tab > scroll down to FSD > enter. You'll need to break through their shields first and then target the small red square with your weapons and damage that area to bring the FSD module down to 0%. I"ve never done this yet, so i'm not sure if it just delays them or completely prevents FSD jumping (can't see the latter being the case because then you'd be stuck in the area for 1+ years :O) but it does the trick so I understand.

I like your thinking. Cruel but fair. Much like Dimmsdale of the infamouse Tiger Brothers.

If you want to play pirate and want their cargo, do NOT target the FSD!!!!! The ship will blow up with all your loot. I do target FSD as I'm bounty hunter and I want to make sure that they are dead before they run, I don't care if they carry Platinum.

Also, do not kill their drive. You might stop them but they are dead since drive is not fixable, so a pilot that know game mechanics will just self destruct and again, denying you loot.

To prevent ppl from jumping you can mass lock him by staying under 2/3 km, I forgot (works much better the heavier your ship is vs. theirs, except the imperial clipper which is bugged and considered to have no mass), and that's about it. Never tried interdicting from normal space so I have no idea on that

Just did a bit of googling and it looks like you can target the cargo hold with the sub-target function on left UI panel to knock off some of their cargo by force.
I know there's also limpet mines that will pop the top so to speak, making it rain.

I always target the power source, with well placed shots you can destroy this (and your target) with minimal damage to their hull.
Mass locking will not work well unless you are in a Asp minimum and if you are your target will most likely be faster than you so it won't be a major issue.
Set your cycle next sub target to a handy button or key and cycle through until you see what you want and then dakka dakka/pew'pew until you get the desired result.
If you are sub targetting make sure your lined up correctly to hit selected subsystem, Eg - behind target for the cargo hold. If you are using gimbals - make sure you have the best sensors you can fit.

yes this was annoying for me to, until i got my viper with lasers and multi cannons i target fsd max speed as they tend not to manuever whilst trying to runaway and jump and let em have both (in this case 4) barrels they usually blow up before they jump, :) i do bounty hunt though so not to bothered about cargo just bounties.

IF you want to stop a guy from jumping you can fly close to him an delay it ot maybe mass lock him or you just kill the drives

It's pretty clear where the drives are too - at the back.

You'll know when a ship has lost its thrusters as it just spins in space. It's not something I would choose to do to a CMDR unprovoked (I don't pick fights with other players; I'll defend myself if I have to), but I do it to wanted NPCs when I'm out hunting.
