Engineers ways to earn Engineers reputation?

Each engineer has different ways, for instance felicity farseer likes to explore stuff, so giving her exploration data will do the trick.

Never in a million years would I have figured this out. When in-game hints and clues either spill it out directly or don't lead to anything tangible, this approach is rather unexpected. Thanks @dutchy2000 for pointing it out.

@FD:
I like this approach very much. Even if it may be just a workaround solution for you (given how many people in beta disliked the idea of having to keep modifying modules and throwing them away), please think about expanding on this idea and implement more alternative ways to do things all over the game.

Has this been proven in game yet? Just curious.

It works for Felicity.

For Todd I tried handing in 4.5mm of bounties but it didn't register. Might just be being slow.

Unsure about some of the others. The Dweller, for example, has a commodities market but selling things doesn't seem to change reputation with him.

FYI, I just found out some of the data-materials require scanning high wakes with a frameshift wake scanner.
I saw these too.

Atypical Disrupted Wake Echos
Anomalous FSD traj
Strange wake solutions

All I did was add a wake scanner, and every time I left a starport, I scanned the high wakes for a few minutes. Over the course of about 3 hrs, I got: 15 Atypical, 8 Anomalous, 4 strange. So they are pretty easy to get.

When I handed in exploration data to Felicity it didn't show progress till I quit out and loaded it up again, I presume it's the same. I previously sold exploration data to Elvira and saw no progress but I didn't give it time so maybe it works for her too.

How did you do it? I didn't find a way.

Its in the usual bounty turn in place, the contacts tab, but as stated, it doesn't seem to work.

I've already bunged a bug report, so they should either say "working as intended" or "whoops, we done goofed, again" at some point.

I don't think its down to slowness, as exploration data given to farseer instantly took me to rank 3.

How much was that worth in credits, or didn't it tell? Genuine curiosity on my end here.

Ok, selling 142k worth of exploration data put me at rank 2.

How do you give the data. When I am on engineer base I see no "Contacts" in menu like I see on normal stations, bases or outposts.... [mad]

If its exploration data, use universal cartographics.

Its the same method you hand in data/bounties at a normal station, if it's not there then you can't increase rep via that method.

OK, further tests done for engineers with commodity markets. It seems to be profit derived, a bunch of mined goods I sold to selean jean took me to rank 3, whereas ~150t of gold at only 90 cr per ton profit to lei cheung gave me 1%.

I sold about 1.1 mil credits of exploration data to Felicity and it took me from zero to level 3 with 75% to level 4.

I like this approach much better than collecting odd materials to level up doing upgrades. Even Felicity's comments at level 3 say that the level 3 FSD range boost blueprint is the minimum she would consider for an exploration vessel.

Still I've been collecting materials and data along the way. USSs are now very useful for gathering the newer materials. I also now scan every vessel I can for weird data items. Added a wake scanner and sat outside a station and scanned wakes for wake data. It actually makes supercruising more interesting.

Just be careful with the USSs. I dropped into one that said zero threat and just as I was about to scoop up some juicy items, I got waylaid by a couple of vessels that immediately started firing. I made it out with my Asp's hull at about 23%.

Another good spot for wake scans are RES. NPCs often leave there and you can mine a bit and bounty hunt.(1 mining laser/refinery on one of my combat ships btw, not a full blown build)
