PvP Ways to work on dealing with more then one target?

Admittedly and as many people know I am garbage at this game....However I do okay ish in the 1v1 aspects but I still struggle to deal with Wing fights. More of me being the 1 and they being the wing...Unfortunately I have been stuck in solo for internet related issues making it to unstable to play without the possibility of being called a combat logger do to disconnects (some last for 5-10 mins now D:) So I can't practice at all or go to any CG's I have been trying my hand with the Wing Assassination missions as they are the closest to Lower tier gank I can find in PvE

However I am going at this blind.. My current tactic is to attempt to pick off what i 'Think' is the weakest ship.. However I am starting to wonder if maybe i should spread out DPS over all the ships (but that just does not sound like it would work) or take out the stronger ship first. I am sadly I amgoing to the FDL because its the most superior option atm (and its rebuy is CHEAP AF) I do want to go back to my Bi Weave Hybrids but my evasive skill just is not there atm.

I am curious of peoples tactics when dealing with a Wing situation. I won't be a part of any wings for the foreseeable future and so that leaves me needing to partake in PvP with wings.

I would also be open to people going to PG or meeting in open for fights but would need to deal with disconnects....however PG seems to be the least active at it....

Side note I am using a controller due to a physical issue i have :p Tho I think i am okay with it.

Personally, assuming its not a combat zone and youre fighting NPCs, in laymans terms I used to just target the weakest ship and kill it and work my way up (of course, theres a little more nuance to that decision making, but you'll learn that as you go on).

If you have a fighter, get it to target another AI threat, to distract it from you.

you want to negate as much incoming damage as soon as possible, and also reduce the number of sources (so you can evade better) as soon as possible.

but smaller is not always weaker. if you're in a slow ship with plasmas it might take a while to take out a zipping eagle, maybe even more than bigger target. so all else being equal, i'd go for those you think you can take out sooner. and if you find some target in particular is giving you a hard time, switch to that one, if only because evading that one better will negate more damage in total.

I check for the most dangerous weapons and disable those first to make my biweave last longer. I also make NPCs turn around by dropping mines in their path, easiest way to gain distance and drop the slower ships out of the fight for a while.

Often you can just fa-off boost away from NPCs and they won't be able to catch you at all, works well for ammo synthesis/shield regen/reboot&repair.

This is for PvP :D

Well, it's very complicated, strategy wise...
In some cases, if I think I can eliminate the whole wing, then I would start with best of them, or the one with highest dps, for example, fixed weapon users.
In some cases, I know I can't kill them all, but they are not putting too much pressure on me, I would start with the weakest one, sometime if I managed to kill a few of them quickly, the rest would start fleeing.
(In other cases, my opponents are kind of skillful and there is a big chance of dying if I don't do it carefully, I would pick a medium one that masslocks me, since I don't high wake from fights, even ganked, and that would give me a better chance to low wake.)
Finally, if I want to fight till death, I would start from the least evasive one.
Usually I would follow this pattern but sometimes I just don't know if they are good or not before the fight begins... so... just pick a random target and keep shooting...

And the best way to git gud on this is...... to get ganked more......

The another day in the office series are either 1vX or 2vX.

My DRTY Co boys and I usually focus on the weakest ship but we also communicate which one of us is getting focused on and we'll switch our focus from the weak ship to whoever is focusing on our boys.
When I was with IED they would use whoever the weakest player was as bait and they didn't win very many wing battles (at least when I was with them).
Gotta make sure you're doing your best to protect your fellow wing mates if you wanna win wing fights. Always communicate and work together.

I will always hot the smallest target first. Keep at it, don't let yourself get distracted by the others. Then take them on, as they come.

"A chain is only as strong as its weakest link." Ever heard that before?

If you can manage to tank damage while being evasive against a wing, and do a good amount damage to your opponents, take out the biggest threat first.
But that might work only if you out-skill the opposing forces.
If ganked by a wing and you're alone, try to drag the strongest opponent away from the pack and repeat for the following pilots.
But honestly, against a good organized wing as a solo CMDR, you better wake out and wait until you can take them in 1v1.
