We are fighting the wrong Thargoid. They do not disable our ships.

After my 14.22gb (x2) downloads I was too tired to go looking for the Thargoids and I am at work now.

I have seen a few videos where the Thargoid ship scans various commanders but does not disable them and one where the Thargoid is taking some cargo which may be an occupied escape pod.

I am quite concerned that the reputed good and bad Thargoids are seeing the worst of human behaviour as commanders try to destroy the vessel in the USS.

I strikes me that the 'bad' Thargoid as destroyed the human fleet and the 'good' Thargoid is looking for survivors.

We are picking fights on the wrong Thargoid.

then why take people?

i watch on several occasions yesterday a thargoid ship take 'occupied escape' pods and 'military intelligence' but pass on biowaste and other items... they were being specific in what they took & even if it was a rescue mission they weren't exactly flying by a station dropping of escape pods...

even if your right it maybe more of a 'bad guys' and 'slightly less bad' guys at this point

The Thargoids currently view us as we view an Ant, no doubt (oh the irony). An annoyance to be ignored until it becomes a bother, then exterminated unceremoniously. They do not hate us, they do not feel anything for us.

If the ants suddenly develop a lethal bite, we will no doubt see a DRAMATIC change in tactics, just as you would change tactics in your garden. We currently have no bite.

They're rescuing survivors, not abducting people. Of course right now, they can't return them, because everywhere is hostile to them; we have no IFF to tell the difference, and being the stupid humans we are, we just open fire.

But the good Thargoids are saving people, currently one at a time and, soon, all of humanity as they fulfill the dreams of J. Posadas and the Fourth Internationale.

Well, our kind took pieces of their barnacles and things that resemble unidentified probes, to us. For all we know these could be their pets or even the early life stages of their seemingly organic ships. Humans have been pretty bad to these aliens already, they'd only be returning the favour by kidnapping our kind in the same manner.

I encountered several Thargoids yesterday, I did not shoot or deploied my weapons, they did not shoot back.
They even let me scoop up materials and cargo from the wrecks.

More than likely the only reason they aren't disabling ships now and firing on them unprovoked is due to the fact that the EMP blockers and new missiles aren't out yet. Wouldn't be very sporting.

The technological, IQ gap between humans and Thargoids is much smaller than an ant.

I do not trust Aegis.

Their meta-alloy plea on Galnet?...an attempt to pull people away from Pleiades?

Aliens...different way of thinking. For all we know Thargoid Sensors and Probes and Links could potentially be intelligent "people" to them, and we've been scooping them up for years!

Keep collecting samples. Seems like Canonn (and soon The Gnosis, once it arrives in the sector) for non-hostile actions.

So much interesting things surrounding Palin, Aegis and the Thargoids...don't just believe it all!!

The Thargs don't want to outright kill humans. It's more likely that they want us alive, to grind into fertilizer and used to grown their invasion fleet.

So do you shoot to kill every ship you see scooping escape pods and military intelligence then?

If so, your KOS list must include the vast majority of commanders......

There are several different variants of Thargoids. There are plenty of encounters accompanied with video evidence of Thargoids using shutdown pulses on our ships still.

You don't save people by destroying their ship first, and then collecting escape pods

The only videos I've seen, the ships were already destroyed when the CMDR got there. The good Thargoids are clearly just rescuing people from the bad ones.

I've gone into two alien USSs, and both times I just stopped to watch, no deploying hardpoints or anything. I had nothing in my cargo. Both times I got scanned, both times the Tharg went hostile. Once, I ran and high-waked, the other time I ran... and came back once the Tharg "gave up". I slowly approached the scene again, and the Tharg was collecting the pods and other salvageables. Once it had them all it high waked and that was that.

TL;DR: Not saying it's impossible but it is certainly not always the case that there are different Thargs attacking vs "rescuing".

So Mr Good Goid comes along to rescue those poor tax payers, then shoots us in the face for trying to do the same thing? Im all manner of sceptical about that one...

It'd be nice if they'd made some new placeholder USS's which had the thargoids in actual battle with the ships yeah.

But, well, it was easier to slap the NPCs into the pre-created scenes they had pre 2.4 I guess.

You might if you view the ship as a non-organic creature that has captured (eaten?) a smaller organism.
