We definitely need long range assassination missions!

To be fair, I'm all for expanding regular chained-missions too.
Seems like it'd be easy enough to expand them into proper mini-quests.

You pick up an escape pod.
You deliver it to a station.
You get a chained-mission to transport the pod's occupant back home.
You deliver the person to their home.
You get a chained mission to explode the pirate who kidnapped the person.
Etc.

It'd definitely also be nice if there could be "branched" missions as well as chained-missions, though.
We currently get offered missions, and given mission-updates, in our comm's HUD during flight so it should be possible to expand the scope of missions using that mechanic too.
Yeah definitely.

My problem with chain missions as they stand are, in part, that they don't initiate immediately after your current mission, and not only that, they hang around for 3 or 4 days, and can be accepted from any system/station where the faction is present, not just the originating station.

This creates such a dramatic discontinuity between the two activities that they might as well be unrelated.

I definitely agree though, por que no los dos? Chain missions could be more interesting, but right now, they kinda lack that nuance.

All of the bounty/questionable/illegal missions need a bit of an overhaul.
It might even be fun to see a framing mission. Deck out a ship with stealth* and kill another ship in the vicinity of your target, making them the only 'possible' culprit.
Maybe also a reverse hatch break, when under a pirate attack, your target has illegal goods placed into their hold as they try to fight off/escape a pirate's actions and their hold is being somewhat emptied as a distraction.

Don't mind the addition of gameplay elements though.

*Make stealth a thing and mean something i.e. through heat dissipation, low energy fun

I suppose as long as the flavour text supported that it'd be no big deal, the basic idea seems fine to me :)
That's definitively a factor, or the major factor, in my thoughts on this. I'm not necessarily calling for full on scripted missions but there could be a certain element of that, enough "seeds" of a story for us to fill in the gaps (so-to-speak).

1. A message to combat Elite pilots - a very lucrative delivery mission 100 tonnes, 150 LY, 5,000,000 Credits. (The hook).
2. More than a few enemies on route (a bit like legacy Robigo).
3. And when you get there; an offer - "while you are here, can you sort out a little problem for us... no one knows you so you'll be able to get close to our target..."
4. Maybe you'd have to join a powerplay faction in order to gain the targets trust...

And it could script out from there with perhaps a few more twists.
