We have cargo ships but no UPS delivery

Sorry if this has already been suggested but why not have an option of shipping parts back to your home base? You would still have to go out and look for the stuff but you could just pay a fee to ship it back. You would need to wait for the shipping time and would have a fee to install it. Or haul it back in your cargo ship and pay just the install fee. Might be nice having a long range cargo ship in your garage just for running parts.

--Edited bc player for player shipping wouldn't work. But let's haul parts in any ship if we have the cargo space. Or pay to ship parts from an allied station.

So then people could pay RL money for someone to buy and ship the big expensive modules, and then sit outside the agreed-upon station and steal the module?

I would like to be able to ship parts a little, though. Like EP thrusters, and shipping an FSD to the engineer, and back to the ship to install it.

I'm not sure if player for player shipping would work because of what you said and also you wouldn't want to have to wait around for someone else to drop off your stuff.

In the very least I'd like to pick up parts in any ship I want if I have the cargo space. It's a grind looking for parts in a short range fighter.

Love the idea, except for the player to player shipping part. So if you have a size 6 cargo rack you could buy say a size 4 FSD and a size 2 pulse laser and store them in cargo. Then you could fly to another station and transfer them to storage. Since some modules are off limits based on the ship you are currently flying, those modules would still be purchasable but with a prompt to say "that cannot be used in your ship, would you like to place it in cargo?"

Another thing I would love is if you could send modules in storage to other stations instead of just transferring them to your current station. You could buy a module and put it in storage, then select "Send To" and type in a system, then you'd get a list of stations in that system you could send it to.
