We must be able to disembark from SLFs

I understand they're supposed to be telepresence, or whatever — I don't care. There are plenty of things that don't necessarily make sense in-game if dissected even a bit and in the end fun needs to trump it. Being able to disembark from SLFs is the closest we can possibly come to the "taking a shuttlecraft down to the surface" Star Trek fantasy and that's a big thing missing from my exploration activities.

Thank you.

Many of the posts on this forum seem like crazy stuff, but i like this one. Sounds like great fun to leave a ship and buzz a ssettlement.

That would be cool, but I don't think any of the current SLF's even have landing gear. In lore, even.

Maybe there should be a new "shuttlecraft" ship-launched transport that can go in the same hangar bay? Let it carry a few tons of cargo, even. Lakon could make it.

An equally viable option, IMO. There should be exploration and mining oriented SLF options.

I agree, there should be SLF driving in presence, landing and disembark, to reach most impervious zones of planets

They actually do!

If you go into the livery menu, every single one of them is present with landing gear deployed, sitting on the hangar floor. Frontier have for some reason modeled deployable landing gears on them without ever actually having a gameplay need for them.

Love this idea. A specialized exploration SLF with pre-installed scanners would be a great addition, too.
Yes, this would be the ideal, but even just being able to disembark from the existing SLFs would be a tremendous boon. But some kind of exploration craft that would help you locate surface deposits or something like that would be amazing.

The SLFs have a full cockpit and landing gear; they should absolutely be an option to go on foot like an SRV. Maybe even be able to target ground targets, but definitely be a flying SRV. Your ship could do laps above a location, maybe even follow. It would at least be very easy to land at settlements regardless of your ship size.

All they need to do to square it with telepresence is to provide an option to either use telepresence or actually board the fighter. FDev are the ones who chose to give us actual fighters with cockpits instead of combat drones or something like that, now it's time to actually let us use them instead of "projecting a hologram" of ourselves in it (which has always been an insanely cheesy game mechanic). Telepresence would be business as usual, whereas boarding it means death is actual death.

Telepresence is most definitely a placeholder mechanic to suit the limitations of the Pre-Odyssey structure. It can defintiely be continued for space combat, but also definitely expanded on for on-foot deployment.
