We need a PROPER courier

We do have the Imperial Courier but what about a REAL courier?

-EXTREME jump range

-Small fuel tank (It's not an endurance runner but designed to go from A-B with messages)

-Limited Internals

Let's go with the basis of an Imperial Courier designed for RANGE

-Increase Frameshift to 5
-Remove the two S3 internals
-Change hardpoints to X4 Small
-Reduce powerplant to S3
-Reduce thrusters to S2
-Reduce fuel tank to S2

Base speed becomes 286 with a 2A thruster and jump range would be a lot.
 
Hate to break it to you but ....
a Size 5 Frameshift drive would require more fuel for a max range jump than the Size 2 fuel tank has in it.
The Ship also would be too heavy for size 2 Thrusters

Have a jump range of ~160 light years if you fitted an extra fuel tank to get to max range.

4 small hard points would make it better armed than the Eagle as well, which might not be intended as a REAL courier.

how fsd/jumprange mechanics works, a lightweight standard courier with fsd class 5 would jump 185,5 ly on a full tank...
 
An Imp Courier, fitted for jump range, can get close to 30LY. With Engineer mods, much higher.

Main problem is its jump range is very sensitive to mass. But as a courier it works great. Courier's don't carry cargo, they carry tiny packages.
 
If not the Diamondback Explorer, you just may be describing the Diamondback Scout. Combat fit the DBS can jump more than 20 lys.

The clamor will really start once 2,2 is released.

I'm was test tanking an adder. I had heavy modded shields class A, everything engineered power, shields, Fsd(4), shield boosters and I was clocking in 19-20ly

Then I got the enhanced engines chewing up 48% of power so I started to shed the weight and holy crap!!!
Close to 30ly even with the military hull remaining.

I'm getting some major boost speeds on even the simplest of grade1 engine upgrades with the enhanced drive.

Might take me a while but class5 fsd upgrade and class3 for the engines. I've got them unlocked, just need the materials.

My Courier can jump 30ly and haul ass at over 600 m/s. Nothing wrong with it as far as I can see.

The Imperial Courier is the single best ship in the game for short to medium distance courier runs. With the new enhanced engines, she can outrun *everyone* and can get in and out of a station very quickly. Also, her agility in supercruise is great. Mine is now permanently parked at Wu Guinagi for purposes of doing the empire rank grind courier runs.

She's a fine fine ship. Any buff to her would make her ridiculously OP.
