We need an exhibit tlc

Exhibits to me have always been a clunky part of planet zoo. The sheer size of the current exhibit for reptiles and bugs makes it difficult to design and in many cases pointless to place for exhibits where the inhabitants are so tiny you may never be able to see them.

Exhibits need a tlc, we need varying exhibit sizes that allow us to properly see the inhabitants and enjoy them more and please remove path snapping, It is never fun trying to place an exhibit which tries to force a path down.

More size options will allow us much more freedom in designing reptile and insect houses.

Things needed for exhibit tlc:
  1. More exhibit sizes, tiny, small, med, giant (refer to image examples) Screenshot_20230706-092834.pngScreenshot_20230706-092927.pngScreenshot_20230706-093212.pngScreenshot_20230706-093149.png
  2. Exhibit foliage decoration pieces (allow us to decorate exhibits how we like)
  3. No path snapping or auto path creation on exhibits.
  4. More backdrop options
  5. Increase exhibit signage and education variation pieces (these are lacking)
  6. Exhibit decor (bug/reptile statues, posters, decals)
  7. Giant exhibits could have cross compatibility with some habitat animals (e.g varanids, turtles, platypus, prairie dogs) Screenshot_20230706-093044.pngScreenshot_20230706-094919.png

I agree on all of this.

Terrariums are such a vital component of zoos that I wish we got a redo of the current system
As well, I think having some animals cross compatible like iguanas, monitors (excluding the Komodo dragon), meerkats, platypus, etc. would be great for saving space.

The monitor lizards in that game were already made Habitat, and definitely would/will be some of the rest of the monitor lizard species that will be in that game.

I actually written up what'd be appropriate terrarium sizes for exhibit animals

Much of this info, I got from friends who work with herps

If you're talking about larger Exhibit sizes to contain larger snakes (like larger pythons and king cobra being the biggest venomous snake) rather than just one Exhibit size while Habitat-type enclosures were too opening for snakes, then I'll agree with that. Snake enclosures shouldn't have holes depends on their too-fitting sizes.

Different exhibit sizes are something i really want. While the size is ok for our large snakes and the iguanas (although i think they would really benefir from something bigger), pretty much everything else feels a little out of place in those giant exhibits. I mean good look finding a 3cm frog in a planted 4m cube.
Also a bigger one would also be nice to house some larger animals like a big aquatic one for green anacondas, alligator snapping turtles and giant salamanders, maybe even give to option to allow the dwarf caiman and platypus in there, and a large terrestrial one for large pythons.

Even changing the layout from 4x4m to 6x2m would really help in incorporating these into builds alot better

I would definitely say we need both larger and smaller exhibits, plus different exhibit shapes.

While snakes and iguanas are mentioned, the one exhibit species I really think requires a larger exhibit is the goliath frog. They can jump 3m in a single bound, and most former attempts to keep them in zoos failed because the frogs, which are a rather nervous species, would leap into the walls of their enclosures and fatally injure themselves. To put it in perspective, the only zoo I know of which has managed to keep them long-term (albeit without breeding them) was the Bronx Zoo, which kept them in a large indoor space commandeered from their Aquatic Bird House - the picture below shows the sort of exhibits this house contains:

I'd be behind every one of these - I've long said that exhibits need a rework. Building rep houses is one of my favourite things to do in game (I'm a reptile lover, and have kept many different species irl.) But it's very hard to have creativity with the current system.

Just an FYI for anyone who may not be aware - it's a bit clunky and awkward, but, you can already place custom foliage, rocks etc inside the exhibits - just place them on top and lower them in, or to one side and use the arrows to move them in to the exhibit. In that sense you can decorate them how you like. But I agree it could be more "user friendly" with actual free placement pieces designed for exhibits.

Could someone please tell me what TLC stands for?
T-Boz, Left Eye and Chile. (showing my age here...)

No, it's Tender Loving Care.

I've long voiced a want for exhibit overhaul. We got the new walkthrough exhibits but there's still a huge want for different sized standard exhibits, and made to be more modular with different shapes as well. But at this point...I don't see it happening. Which is a shame because I absolutely would 100% love for it to happen.

Tlc- tender loving care
It is a term used when something needs special attention.

For the foliage pieces I was mostly implying smaller pieces to fit in the exhibits since there are few plants that are small enough to fit :)

That would be a very useful update. Because not only there are too few plants small enough to fit in exhibits, we don't have many plants that fit in the smallest planters for gardening.
