We need faster limpets

I agree with both of these.

While we are at it. The delay when deploying a limpet is far too long. It's a serious pain when firing prospectors. I often wonder if I'd actually clicked the button by the time the limpet gets around to firing.

Agreed!
Especially when doing some wet work jobs, collecting a few dozen tons of cargo with 2x 3A limpets takes ages
They need to hurry and get way more smart than they are now. This stupid line they're flying to the cargorack....this crashing into objects when materials got stuck. They suddenly feel more like Lemmings in space than

We need one limpet that can be changed to suit all purposes, I was quite shocked how many damn limpets their are ridiculous, might as well have have a separate store for just limpets.!!

The silly thing is the limpets themselves are multi-purpose, but you need up to 8 different types of modules to use them properly.

I'd rather FD reversed this. So you have a universal controller, but need to buy or synthesize different variations of lmpets depending on whether you are repairing someone, trying to hatchbreak, or prospect, etc.

oddly enough, I like this idea, could give mining wings more to do, one light ship could run around deploying prospector limpets, sort of scouting the area, then the heavy mining ships could roll in and crack that payload. finally the hauler could come in with it's collectors and pick everything up. could also give more resource management to single mining vessels.

after a second thought though, the modules each have a position in the fire groups screen, how would it work with a combined limpet module? and how many could be controlled at once?

I all for limpets be recalled. Faster. Not really. If you find something and really play around with your ship you can find the part of the cargo hatch is and make the Limpets work less.

The game is about choices. If you are a miner. You only need Collectors and Prospector. The other 6 controllers are NOT needed.

limpets move too slow. you ships position should be irrelevant as long is in range. there is no draw backs to this request and its extremely easy to change.

an universal controller sounds more appealing and yes you have the choice to purchase/synthesis the limpet type that suits your fancy and also free up space for extra modules like in a miners case more cargo racks as an example.

I totally agree. We also need:

- to be able to go down the Contacts list just pressing a stack of "collect" buttons, and have everything happen automatically after that
- have this be a built in feature for all ships, no modules or limpet cargo needed.

Why? Limpet collecting is bad gameplay. It's a chore, it's boring, it's slow. It doesn't add anything to the immersion or the game world. Ditch it.

i like this but i would jut make a collect tab between "just materials" or "just canisters"

Here my point why does a Miner need a Fuel, Decontamination, Recon, Hatch Breaker, Repair and Research. I don't see the use of other limpets. Depending on what your doing depends on what you limpets you need.

you dont have to buy all of those, just buy the type you need with you General Limpet controller module installed and you're good to go. and this way you have a free module slot for whatever you need.

I've found that not all types of limpet controllers are not found at all stations. When mining, I used to only use collectors. With the introduction of prospectors I now need two controllers, so two slots are taken up. If I only have two type-2 slots that's one controller for each of those two slots instead of squeezing each of those "1" type controllers into each plug instead of sticking them both into one module slot, i.e., split them.

The other thread concerning this issue is the "One controller to rule them all" idea which I would gladly support. It's getting to the point where there are so many things you can do with them that it boggles the mind. Yet how often do regular players bring along fuel limpets? How many wish we HAD brought them when finding a vessel in distress that may need both repair and refuel limpets? How much space you got in your ship again?

You just cannot plan ahead for ALL possible uses of limpets and bring all the possible controllers for each of them. Things can happen you just can't plan for all the time. I believe there are eight controllers now, right? Squeeze all of them into an anaconda or Type 10 and go looking for things to use them all on.

Just one controller with a setting to do this, that, or the other thing. The limpets are universal; they'll do whatever your controller will tell them to do. I don't see the need to bring eight other boxes when a simple dial on the box can do the same thing.

ONE CONTROLLER TO RULE THEM ALL
