We need hull repair limpets

Or more specifically I need hull repair limpets. Seriously, is there no way to repair hull while exploring? I ask this because I'm currently hundreds of light years from the bubble with 40% hull. How did this situation arise? I was skimming over the planet's surface and decided to muck with the camera. Next thing I know, my DBX is cartwheeling across the surface. I guess it could have been worse, but now I'm considering cutting my expedition short.

We've already been told back at Lavecon that hull repair limpets are coming...

Real nice when you're out 25k ly in the dark. Only problem, re-stocking.

Now if you could synthesize limpets like you do fighters, all you would need to do is mine for the mats to build them.

Probably on FD's radar anyway. But, if anyone's is listening?

FD intend to introduce repair limpets with 2.4 but you would need to go back to the bubble (or maybe colonia?) to get these new modules^^

I may head back anyway since I realized I forgot to engineer my surface scanner on my DBX, even though it still sucks, even engineered. I'm thinking long range scanner unless somebody else has a better idea.

i would prefer a faster scan myself. if something is worth flying out to scan i would prefer to need less time to scan rather than more time from further away. but then im still trying to figure which saves the most time and fuel. then again further you are from the pretty waterorld/ammonia/elw/gas giant the less likely you are to see the beauty and make stunning screenies. has anyone tried working out which is more efficient, flying normal distance but quicker scan or longer range but slower scan?

I fly to the bodys usually with 75% throttle and as soon as the scan starts i slow down to 50%. If the scan completed i set my heading to the next one.
With this method i get more benefits from the long range scanner. The DSS scan speeds up if you get closer and the speed up happens much earlier with the long range mod. Also i don't loose too much c-speed when exploring systems and reach the next ones also faster than usual.
On ELW or some special WW/AW i approach until i can see them and make sometimes screenies :) at this point no mod provides any benefits anymore^^

ah so then long range is just superior to fast scan UNLESS all you are doing is scanning the primary? EDIT: i need to go in game and re-engineer my exploration asp scanner then.

Limpet synthesis is also incoming, as per Lavecon announcement.
I'm hoping this will allow for some new cooperative gameplay.

I'm thinking of groups of explorers meeting up in distant parts of the galaxy. One has a materials mining fit, so he has lots of resources to supply everyone with fresh limpets. Another is a Fuel Rat, so the limpets supplied by the miner saves him a lot of time prospecting planets. Another has lots of repair limpet modules, so he repairs everyone's ships.

They should be in 2.4

When beta launchers I'ma gonna start a thread and prepare to pack a load of limpets and do meet-ups with all who want them, I think a few other exploration minded Fuel Rats will do something similar..
Gotta wait for beta to find out how much hull each repairs for each ship type etc, do all the maths and work out how many I need for which jobs.

Depends on if you are still out and about by then too :)

Hope they add extra slots to explorer ships as well to fit the repair limpet controller and cargo bay to hold the limpets alongside the 2 scanners, fuel scoop, shields, srv and afms that are needed. Thats 8 slots, more than most ships, including the 2 dedicated explorer ships have.

Yeah, I think this is probably the case unless you simply never scan system bodies. I ended up getting bored of flying nearly smack dab into every planet and came back to the bubble, repaired my ship, and engineered the range +190-something percent. Still terrible as far as I'm concerned, lol (distant secondary stars still won't be in range).

But then we Need also Power Plant repair limpets. Because this is another Thing that cannot be repaired in flight, except by reboot.
