We need long range gauss

Salvation is modding them, they are literally just warm railguns with more piercing that can damage goids, Imagine Long range mod. 15% more heat, 20% more power draw 20% more distro draw. BUT falloff and max range is 6000 m. Slap that hydra from 6 km. Give it a panic attack. The goids take cheap shots on stations, time to give em a taste of their own medicine.

Na. Not 6km.
See... if you payed any attention you would know the cg rewarded engineered guardian shard gun had 8.5km range while the one you unlock has 3km range.
And the engineered gauss has a funky 4 shot mod.
And the charger is a crazy high damage weapon.

If ya want a long range for guardian gauss it should be crazy 12km range with 20% reduced distributor draw at the cost of 60% more heat and 40% less damage.
Crazy stuff.
We're talking the top of the top technology of ancient aliens.
It needs to be crazy and expensive

Bruh anything above 3km range would mean free kill as it's the max range of the Interceptors

You might as well ask for a kill button.

Target the Hydra, press the button, hydra dead.
You won the game and can move forward.

🤷‍♂️

Why? it should be easier to hit it at 3km than at 1.5 unless the interceptor is moving right towards you... which should get you worried since you will get the lighting if the interceptor gets close enough.

Well, the target does appear bigger at close range so hitting it should be easier, right? Especially since the interceptor usually IS moving right towards me (when not using an SLF). I try to use the time it needs to close up from 3km to say 1,5km for finding firing opportunities, while leaving a trail of heat sinks. :D

But my main problem is not being really good in FA-OFF. Though just yesterday I was experimenting in FA-ON and wasn't much better, mostly because the speed falls very fast and the interceptor closes in far too rapidly for me to hit anything.

I'm not that good either.
And i cannot really cold orbit.
And sometimes (more often than not) i have to switch to FA-on when shooting their hearts.

Still, i can consistently kill basilisks, although i'm winning it with hull between 15 and 55% (but that's really rare, most often i get out with the hull in 20-30%) using a Krait m2, hull tank, no repair limpets

A basilisk is my end goal, still haven't managed to kill one. But I just returned to the AX and watched some vids. Mostly it comes down to me not having enough patience, I get into the fight with shield at say 60 and sooner or later I make a stupid mistake that ends badly. :D I can usually kill two Cyclops one after another without repair or rearming, so I'll just need to work on that patience.

I have killed a few basilisks. Tbh i prefer cyclops as its a very quick kill for 8M. In a wing of 2 condas with 4 fixed C3 shard cannons u can do 120M/h by spamming them and killing the goid in 5 seconds or less

I'm experimenting with a shieldless Krait build, two long range cooling beams and three Gausses (edit: even cooked up a whole new weapon oriented distro yesterday!). I can easily manage two Cyclops in a row and come out at say 60-70% hull with some ammo left, but I'm aware it means not good enough for a Basilisk... I'll learn to use this a bit more. Perhaps exchange one beam for a swarm killer.

Condas... Never tried killing a Basilisk in a big ship. Is it easier or in fact harder, as running is not an option? A big ship seems like an overkill for a Cyclops, no problem whatsoever, but a Basilisk is more than just a big target.

Medium ships are go to for AX. Chieftain and Krait are the greatest options. Check our wiki for more info.

Me over here with my Corvette literally just face tanking basilisks because my 7500 hull and 7100 shield tends to have a nice heft.

Crap, I'm giving up on that goal. I don't have the skill nor the time to hone that skill. I'll go for a short explo trip instead...

It's all because of his speed. Take the Cutter and you can just as easily kill Medusa and Hydra, you just need more time and ammo synthesis. They have the same speed as the Cyclops.

Might as well try this sometimes. I actually own an A-rated Cutter, just never bothered to engineer it. The immense shield etc. almost feels like cheating, though against a basilisk... I might as well legally cheat a bit. :D

You do need to keep away from their Lightning attack - it will easily drain even the Cutter's shield
