We need more engineering options for the Fuel Scoop!

The only engineering choice for the fuel scoop is Shielded, which is completely useless! We need more viable engineering choices for the fuel scoop!

Let’s start with a Thermal Heat Sink that reduces heat generated by star scooping by 5-25% that also adds weight?

Or another that reduces the power consumption (efficient) at the expense of added weight?

I can think of any number of other useful potential engineering mods for a fuel scoop other than “shielded”
 
Personally, I'd like a toggle to toggle the scoop on/off. Rather than using the module page. If this already exists, then Doh! If it doesnt then, I want one please. Ta.
 
Upon ramming another ship the fuel scoop releases 20% of stored fuel, causing x amount of burn damage for y amount of time. Think napalm, and it scales with the amount of fuel being used.
 
Exotic Particle Scoop:
Convert particles from stars not normally scoopable into fuel at a lower rate.

High Efficiency:
Increase Your Scoop rate by 10-50%

Reserve:
Fuel Scoop holds a 10% fuel reserve.

Those are all amazing ideas, and the counterbalance can be either added weight or heat since those are all things that explorers try to balance out anyway so it forces an opportunity cost and balancing decision.
 
Power draw, heat generation, mass... The current fuel scoop weighs as much as a hole. Add some mass to it and it will make people weigh their choices, pun intended.

Yes, and the other two single-blueprint modules too.

AFMU could have "fast repair / low capacity" and "slow repair / high capacity" mods.

Refinery could have "high capacity" (just gives it 1 extra bin) or perhaps "excellent refining" (gets 1-5% extra material per fragment, depending on grade) - at the cost of increased power use.

I guess Surface Scanner is going to be single blueprint soon, too - that could have the usual lightweight/reinforced pair added to it.
 
"Neutron Boosting" increases your jump multiplier for neutron scooping at the expense of scooping efficiency.

Special effect "Neutron Efficient" substantial drop in the time you need to spend in neutron cones before becoming supercharged, so a quick pass-through makes you ready for a boosted jump.
 
Altho I have voice attack, I dont use it anymore. I prefer manual after my last docking request was ignored and my fully loaded cutter was converted into a sidewinder.
