We need more missions...

I think that it is time to create more type of missions, military, spying, sneaking, etc... because the current list, aside from not paying ANYTHING WORTH it, are plainly ignored altogether...

I have resorted to only commodity trading (about 1,000CR per Ton), the (very) rare hauling mission for 100-200k, or when I am bored, anaconda assassination missions (150-200k).

I would love to be asked to spy on stations, on other ships (figure out where they go and report), and all sort of missions of different kinds...

Upcoming community goals will be nice, but still, can't we get more new stuff to do?

They will change the missions in future patches (not 1.1 i thin). I hope they will be more dynamic and determined by the ship you are flying, the ranks (combat, trade) and available credits. They also should be more rewarding. Yes you make profit with them but the amount of time you have to invest finding the anaconda and killing it is to much for the 200k max.

It is true that you can make 200k with one round trip trading but at least it breaks the routine once in a while when I switch from my lakon to my cobra...

If only they'd fix the WAR ZONE bug that makes you lose rep with the faction you align to fight FOR... that'd be nice too...
 
Couldn't agree more and I really hope the devs are working on this. The missions we have in ED today don't come close to what was offered in FE2 and FFE. Even simple missions back then like, ship person A to system B while pilot C tries to kill you for offering A a ride, was more fun than today's ship goods, find goods, kill X <type of ships>, kill anaconda pilot, etc.

Now, maybe I'm just grumpy and I do love the game, but sometimes I don't quite get the priorities of FD. Planetary lights, new textures for gas giants, ship skins, etc. are all nice, but I don't know if those things are more important than interesting missions in my book.
 
Yeah... What about the spy missions where you had to take pictures of a heavily guarded military station? It used to be almost impossible to survive it if you made the slightest mistake...

Another big problem for me is that 90% of the missions brings in 2000CR... What is the point? That barely pays for fuel in most cases...
 
Yep. Mission variety and mission payouts need to be worked on big time. Right now there is no mission variety to speak of and the payouts are laughable.

Remember different things are in different stages of development and involve different teams. Programmers, probably split down into different teams themselves, graphic, 3d artists and so forth.

Planetary lights probably been working on a internal build for ages and the past month have been polishing them off. Parallax shaders was probably added to their engine months ago but only just got added to the game or given a final polish in the last month.

You do not have to do always the best possible fix immediately, make small improvements now and come back later in the future.

For example; You can copy/paste the Anaconda killing mission as it is for ASP, Clipper, Dropship, Python, etc. Then tune up the salary rates accordingly. Would especially provide smoother ride for new players, and would probably make life more enjoyable for old as well. Should not be much to implement.

One thing that I noticed from the missions. The stations do not have many minor faction missions, almost at all. Would be nice to see those more alive as well.

You certainly have a point there and I'm in no way _against_ the updates I mentioned, but for someone who has no knowledge of the inner workings at FD it's easy to get a little worried when new eye candy is rolled out while the game still suffers from half done and broken missions.
 
Yes they need to give us more missions based on rank, if im baron for example i should had more important things to do on the empire than a outsider, this already make a friend of mine abandon the game. And it is so sad cus it is an incredible framework.

I think he made clear how low the priority is, 6-12 months is optimistic.

Wait, so something that is "in progress" is low priority? How do you figure that? ;)

Whenever he gives reference to time that is pretty much a "black box". A "soon" from him could mean days, weeks and even months later, but on the other hand it might also mean that the information will be released a couple of minutes later (yes, that has happened a couple of times :D).

Based on a general feel I've gotten from dev comments my best guess is that we will see more of this in 1.3 with maybe some things being changed/added with the wings update in relation to co-op since that seems plausible. So maybe around April then based on the current release pattern. Pure speculation on my part though...
 
i'd be happy if they just fixed the currently broken ones, i wouldn't trust them to add more mission types considering how badly some of the existing ones are borked (kill prisoners? really? which prisoners would those be, then - the ones you forgot to add to the game?)

remember Frontier? it had photo-recon and base-bombing missions. i wonder if we'll get those kinds of missions when we are finally able to enter planet atmospheres
