You should read the Galactic Conspiracy thread sometime. Interesting take on whether the ships are even Thargoids at all. Seems Sirius Corp are up to some very shady stuff, and its entirely possible they have stolen thargoid tech from the Col 70 sector, and have reverse engineered it.
This also indicates that the Col 70 sector area is Thargoid home space, which is why it is locked. Could it be that Sirius Corp have actually wiped out the thargoids, taken over their homeworld, and are now posing as them for ends unknown?
