only if your ships integrity takes a battering when you do it. These auto systems that protect our vessels are precision engineered for our own good, the good of our cargo and any passengers.
Space law I'm afraid. It's all covered in your Space Traders Flight Training Manual.
You wanna rip the cargo doors off? tho, no friction in space so... In Elite 3 (First Encounters), you could (running off memory here*), boost with your landing gears down, they would be destroyed and you couldn't land, so, effectively <expletive deleted>ed!
* It might have been if you didn't raise the landing gear after 30 seconds they would break.
Too many claims from commanders who had forgotten they were in an atmosphere when they boosted and ripped their hull open (if the cargo doors were open) or ripped their landing gear off.
So the insurance companies demanded the HUD computer blocked various modes (and enforced a slow down) when these extensions were in use.
Well - that's what is warping my tiny little mind...
Mind you, what would be a good "engineering" idea is that certain pirate factions (or other nefarious adventurers) had engineers who would remove the said restrictions. As long as you were prepared to fly naked. And by "naked" I actually mean uninsured. Although I would be naked too.
