We were promised atmospheric planetary landings

And now FD is saying it's too hard, that it's "extremely difficult." Well, I don't care how difficult you believe it is, hire the right people and get it done. We want atmospheric planetary landings. We want flora and fauna. We want to be able to scan them and obviously kill them (what's the point of leaving them alive?) We want to find primitive cultures and corrupt their society. We want to find advancing civilizations on the verge of deep space travel and cripple their research so they can't progress. Who wants competition? Right?

So, FD; the only thing I want to hear from you is "we are releasing atmospheric planetary landings. We have hired quite a few people to specifically address the difficulty of creating this advanced content, and we hope to have a release in the near future."

Make it happen.

They have never said that it isn't coming, it will take a lot of time and effort to get right as it will be a very difficult job to do it well. That has all that been said about atmospherics. Regarding earthlikes, well yes, I expect this to be a long time down the road. But again they have never said that they are not doing them.

I also would love to see this. However, I do think earthlikes with life is a bit far off. With that being said I don't see why lifeless planets with thin atmospheres such as HMC/ice worlds would be undoable now.
All they would really have to do is enhance the mist that already exists in canyons. Maybe color it a little to make for unique sky colorations/sunsets and sunrises. It would make explorers exceedingly happy.

I want to see it happen too, but we might just have to face the fact that it wont be possible due to engine limitations or whatever. I just wish they hadn't wasted so many resources on bloating the game with useless crap like Power Play and multicrew.

But they are, don't expect to land on earth likes that's the difficult part, it's probably going to be ammonia worlds some gas giants metallic vapor worlds etc

Flying through the clouds on gas giants and landing on ammonia worlds etc would be nice. But I'd rather they work on adding and improving things to do in space than commit a ludicrous amount of dev time to making landable earthlikes.

David said the opposite. Anyone can add clouds and trees - which is all you need to do - but the hard part is using it to add gameplay. What do you do on an atmospheric world?

Well what do we do on the airless worlds? We could do that for a start.
I'd be quite happy driving around bumping into trees. Inb4 the inevitable "Why are all the trees green" threads.

Besides, on the subject of 'too hard', Frontier themselves mastered atmospheric planets 19 years ago

Statements or promises don't equate to results.

So if you believe that what someone said will always or even mostly happens, you're setting yourself up for a fall.

Look at it from their side, to them we are a bunch of demanding players with an array of wants/desires/suggestions who, for the most part, appear to be insatiable. Read the forum threads.

So, if they can't please everybody, they'll please themselves and the vision.

2 pennies worth.
