Weapon damage when overloaded?

Why not have weapon damage when weapons overload, this not only would make it a little harder and at present just is a 'oh I have to wait till they recharge' etc. If they get overloaded surely they should take damage over time sort of excessive wear and tear through overloading them.

I'm pretty sure the THERMIC OVERLOAD is the point right before they would take heat damage. So I think it's alright.

Agreed. It's common in RL for systems to have a thermal cuttoff, whereby they tell you they are overheating but have shutdown before they are damaged, until they are cool enough to use. It would be pretty safe to assume in FD that they would have incorporated something similar into our costly weapons.
