Weapon locations

You will not find large multi cannons as they do not exist, C2 gimballed beams will most likely only be available as D2 gimballed beams as I have seen them and gimballed weapons of any kind are Always one group alphabetically Lower than their fixed counterpart chap. So go for large gimballed burst lasers like E3's and then D2 gimballed beams too.

Thanks Rich,

I have seen several posts relating to asp loadouts and they all say C2 gimballed beams and C1 gimballed MC's so pretty sure they are out there somewhere.

They are. Bought and fitted. Can't remember where. Sorry,

Edit. Pretty sure it was a high tech refinery.

I asked this exact question a few days ago and someone brought to my attention that the "C" means "Class", and doesn't refer to the alphabetical grade of a weapon. The highest Multicannon (G) is apparently an F2 for a Cobra. The letter changes for different ships.

ermm what? C *is* the "class"(quality), it doesn't *mean* class. The number is the size, and the letter is the quality. G is the worst, A is the best, though I've never seen an A weapon. Actually I came to this thread hoping to find weapon locations myself, all I can ever seem to find are the lowest grade g -> e. I can't seem to find any good resources though, there's no weapon database like there is with Slopey's commodity tracker, that's what we need.

been looking for that myself but no tools currently available show weapon locations. I found some D2 beams at Leesti which with the smaller hardpoint E 2's and missiles seem to do the trick. Still looking though but from otherposts I have seen I think all the decent weapons may have been deleted from sale at launch.

33rd century too, I want something that will blow up an asteroid so I don't have to muck about with a mining laser :)

naw weapons get abbreviated to C because the letters are fixed, you can't get ABCDEFG of class 2 fixed fragment cannons, they are all A.

So for example Class 2 Gimbal MC are F (i believe) but there isn't any point in quoting the F, because you can't get anything else, so they just get called C2 MC

This. The letter for the quality is pretty much a misnomer, only get for showing the relative 'punch' of the weapon - the top end will be more effective against the next size up of ship. It really should be dropped for weapons unless FD are going to bring back the variants.

Not in case of weapons... A/B/C/D/E/F/G have no direct correspondence with quality at all - it's more tied to their size and capabilities (gimballed/fixed/etc).

Yup, some people have an annoying habit of saying C1 to mean Class 1 (small) weapons and C2 to mean Class 2 (medium) weapons. Particularly confusing given that they could just say small or medium.
