weapon phasing and angleing of fixed weapons (WW2 AIRCRAFT DID THIS!)

In playing elite there is one feature that I have found slightly tedious. that is that fixed weapon crosshairs are all-over the place inside the aiming reticule. you have to individually aim with each one or get to point-blank rang to hit with them all.

Firstly id like to suggest the idea of weapon focus points, the weapons can be angled to crossover at a certain distance. WW2 aircraft did this, particularly those with wing mounted weaponry. why can't ships 1000 years later do this!? this would allow fixed weapons used on 'wings', side of fuselage or high/low mounted fuselage weapons to be significantly more accurate at a certain point, at the expense of inaccuracy at very long/ short ranges.

secondly, a neat little feature for all weapons is phasing, weapons can be adjusted to shoot out of phase of one another rather than fire all at once. for example, I had 2 PA's which when fired would shoot 2 projectiles at the same time, if they missed then I'd have to wait for both to recharge, setting them to half phase would almost be the equivalent to a single PA with double fire rate shooting one round after the other from each gun rather than all at once.
this feature increases chance of hitting targets at the expense of concentrated damage and better thermal and power regulation. much more effective for heavy hard hitting weapons like cannons, PA's, rail guns. and even pulse/ burst lasers.

what do you think...not my worst idea eh? :)
