Newcomer / Intro Weapons function settings

Hi
anyone with an answer to this I have kitted my Cobra 111 out with a D2 gimballed cannon but I find that when I check my ammo at the end of a combat I find it has hardly fired any rounds usually less than 20, I have it on a medium hard point but have also had a turret F1 version in the small with same result, when I read up about it the suggestions given were to change the weapon function from forward to target but when I look there is only forward option available just to clarify these are single shot heavy cannons not multi. Cheers

The medium hardpoints on the Cobra is set below the wings, which means you actually have to be slightly above your target for them to hit.
Keep your nose above your target and they should hit.

You should be able to both hear them firing and see the projectile trajectory when you fire.

Oh, it's not a 111, it's III aka roman numeral for 3.

- I find that with any of the hardpoints underneath a ship like this you always have to angle up. First thing to check, do you have the medium hardpoints on a separate fire group? Or are ALL the weapons going to fire from your main fire button/trigger?
Second thing to do - Just like he said ^^^^ - Is to angle up - if you realllly want to test it out, and have the money to do so, trade one of the medium hardpoints for a multicannon and go find some random wanted ship in the area - Start shooting it and dog fighting and test the "limits" of the medium hardpoints - if you have trouble, you could always stick a beam laser or soemthing on the bottom medium hardpoints. This would make it very, clearly obvious if its shooting or not.

But really, when im shooting at a guy and I see the medium hardpoints not shooting when I want them to, I just keep angling up and up till I see them firing. Dont worry about the top gimballed weapons, they can shoot almost any angle that you can see in front of you. And the gimbals have a decent limit as well, so angling up enough to get the bottom hardpoints firing is wellll within the fire zone of the top weapons

Aren't the mediums either side of the cockpit + top side on a Cobra ?

under on a Viper

Weapon function is for turreted weapons and rail guns (I assume but I've not used them personally) which will auto-fire on a target.
Check you have the Canons set to a fire button on your preferred fire group.
I removed my Canons as I found them to be quite slow to react on firing, however this was before I figured out the whole 'Cobra's nose is in the way' thing. :)

Yes medium on top small under,my weapon set up is 1 x D2 gimballed heavy cannon and 1 x D2 beam laser on medium and 1 x G1 beam laser and 1 x G1 gimballed multi cannon on small my lasers are on fire point 1 cannons on two so at any angle of attack one pair of laser/cannon should bear on target, unless of course he's on my six or my beam. But the question remains unanswered as to whether you can reset the heavy cannon to fire at target ?

the answer is ...-.No

gimballed auto track on heat signature and have to have line of sight to keep on target

Turreted weapons can be set to fire in different auto modes only.

My advice would be to carry 2 types of weapons only to simplify the amount of aiming marks displayed
