Newcomer / Intro Weapons groups??

Hey guys,

Quick question. I have the Imperial Bounty Hunter package from kickstarter and so my ship comes with 2 x burst pulse lasers and an auto cannon. I have set the pulse lasers to group 1 and the auto cannon to group 2. Also just bought a kill warrant scanner but have no idea how to use it! That's group 3 I think, well it lists as group 1 in the third slot and seems to be separate to my other weapons. How do I use it by the way?

Problem is my pulse lasers are fine and both shoot together but when I change groups to deploy my auto cannon I see it pop out but when I press fire nothing comes out it just sits at 90/2100? What am I missing? It's going to be really obvious isn't it?

Thanks for the help.

Ben

PS just got my first 2 kills (6, 400 credits) I'll have that Viper in no time!

If you set the weapon to 1 and 2 in the first row.
1 for pulse (so left mouse to fire)
2 for cannon (So right mouse to fire)

And the scanner in the second row as 1.

Then you can switch between then using "N"

I'll start by saying you can bind fire group keys to the keyboard. I have mine set to the N and M keys.

You can only have 2 groups of hard points - primary and secondary - active per fire group at a specific time. Do you have the auto cannon (multi-cannon?) set to primary on a different fire group and you're hitting secondary fire? Try setting both the lasers and auto cannon to group 1, but ensure that lasers are primary fire and the auto-cannon is secondary fire. Or you can do like I do and set them both to primary fire and set a defensive weapon on secondary fire for example, Shield Cell Banks).

Last, a kill warrant scanner needs to be assigned to a weapon slot in a firegroup - target a vessel and get within range (2-4 KM) and scan.

And just in case I'm misunderstanding, multi-cannons have to spool up before they fire. It's not long, maybe a half second, but they won't instant fire.

Ah thanks hitkill/dayman. I think I must have it assigned to secondary fire as I was using the primary fire (trigger on thrustmaster hotas) and it didn't do anything. Knew it would be something simple. I'll try your set up hitkill and see how that works. Is there a difference to a kill warrant scanner and the basic scan which tells you if they're wanted or not?

Thanks guys, appriciate the help

Yeah I mean multi cannon couldn't remember if it was multi or auto. They do need ammo and it's full 90/2100

The kill warrant scanner is a means of getting a bit more income if you're focused on bounty hunting. It reaches out to all police networks to find any bounties on the ship you're scanning. The normal scanner will tell you if they're wanted locally, but if you scan them with the KWS as well it will usually reveal additional bounties for Federation, Alliance or Empire.

Thanks starnoob thought that might be the case. Thanks everyone all my weapons working as normal. So much better once you get the hang of it a bit. Just takes time to get used to everything and learn how it all works.

Don't cannons also need ammo?

Yes and its $$$ :)

Yes but be mindful that if a ship scans CLEAN in a system (other than Anarchy) but scans WANTED with KWS u will incur a fine/bounty for attacking it.
and if you kill it in the "clean" system the penalty is in the $$thousands$$...I found out the hard way :)

There is no "group 3" as such, the way it works is that each *column* in that window represents one 'equipped' set of bindings.

So if you have a column with lasers set to 1 and cannons set to 2, when you have that set 'equipped', your lasers and cannons will be left and right click. The next column might then have your KWS set to 1. There's a key binding to move between sets; pressing that will cycle between lasers & cannons bound to left & right click, and then KWS bound to left click (and nothing to right).

Beware the Kill warrant scanner!

If the ship you're looking at is not wanted in the local system it will tell you about other warrants NOT get you permission to fire on it in your current jurisdiction...

Also be aware that some hardpoints are on the underside of your ship, so if your target is above your nose, those lower hardpoints will not be able to engage
