Weapons loadout for type-9?

So now that the NPC's have had an injection of caffeine and are pulling me out of supercruise left and right, is there any good weapon loadouts for a type-9 or just take hits to the shield while waiting for the fsd drive to spool up?

30 or more hours in a type-9 tells me not to ever try and fight in one. The only saving grace is with NPC AI. I have noticed if you pop them a few times and get their shields down they will flee for a minute (Saying "Must Escape....") which gives you some time to get away. However the maneuverability in a type 9 is so horrible I'm not sure you would get a chance to take their shields off anyway, even with good combat skills.

Best to just run while zig-zagging, or use a shield cell bank while waiting for the FSD to come back online.

Torpedo launchers work well if you only get pulled out of SC rarely. Expensive, 15k a pop but worth every credit. Usually enough to kill Asp and below in one volley. Otherwise, missiles are my second choice.

I'm not sure how effective turreted weapons are on it as I never tried them out.

Edit: Forgot about missile balance in 1.1. Oh yeah definitely don't go all missiles anymore, probably turreted weapons with a couple forward facing would be good. In terms of strength, the Beams are strongest, then Burst, then Pulse. I haven't taken medium multicannon turrets in but i'd imagine those would be pretty good.

Fit a shield cell on your lower class modules. Make sure you have Chaff, and point defense. Don't bother with ECM. Rest should be cargo. Get an A class shield for the lowest tier class you're willing to risk.

Before they nerfed them when I was in my type 9 I used seeking missiles. Now they don't work vs shields, turreted beams I would think to be the best option at this point. They will eventually hit something as they flail about like wet noodles.
and you can throw a type 9 around if at your apex you throw it in reverse. Kept a CMDR viper in my sights outside of a station when he clipped me on the way out. He didn't want to dance though.. Wouldn't advise that anymore.

BEHOLD! The glorious "Battle Cow", combat fitted Type 9:

Of course, its the fighting setup, but it works pretty well with D5 shields and no shield cells, when trading. I have tried different configurations and my favourite is 2x class 1 gimballed beam lasers, 2x class 2 pulse turrets (beams are better for bigger targets) and 1 class 2 beam turret (on the bottom). Also, if you have 50 mil in your pocket, definitely buy the A7 thrusters, they make a LOT of difference. You can sell it without any loses. And of course get the A grade scanner, it helps turrets aim.

3 class 2 pulse turrets are the best against smaller targets, as they hit very reliably. Basically thats what you want, except all the shield cells and D5 shield generator, instead of A8:

Thanks to all that responded! I tried a number of different variations of turreted multicannons, lasers, missiles, torpedos, but it seems with all A level fsd, power plant, thrusters, the best thing so far is still submit, 4 pips to shields, spool up fsd and boost until its ready while bobbing and weaving. I do love how they back off when you hit them with torpedoes though but it takes so long for the stupid things to lock on! Thanks again everybody!

I have found a station selling the A9 version of this defence module...

Working well for me!
