Ships Weapons on Asp Explorer

Hi folks,

I currently have on my Asp Explorer 4 1E gimballed beam lasers and 2 2B Seeker missile racks. Some time ago I was in combat and didn't even scratch the paint of my opponents. I'm looking for advice on what weapons to install. If the manatee supership community goal goes well I think I have about 5 million to spend. Otherwise 4 million.

How many engineers do you have unlocked?

I have tried a good number of load outs on my AspX, the current one, for emergency defense at guardian sites is:
2x med G5 overcharged Pulse lasers with SS
2x sm G1 long range Rails with SP
2x sm G5 rapid fire Seekers with TC

Works well enough to fend off any NPC pirates/BH
 
Are you talking PvE combat or PvP combat? It makes a huge difference to your selection.

For PvE my old Asp-E had 4 small gimballed Pulse lasers, all long range (grade 1-2) modded, 2 with scramble, 1 phasing and 1 emissive (I think it was). 2 medium gimballed MC's on top both efficient I think, 1 with corrosive and 1 autoloader. Never had a problem taking down any NPC with that combo tbh. My Asp-E was decently engineered so it could take a beating and move nicely as well.

Haven't done PvP with is so I won't try to advise on that.

Hmm the Asp is quite difficult fpr weapons since she has lots of hardpoints but less power for them.
Usually i run this setup:

2x class 1 railgun longrange feedback cascade
1x class 1 pulse laser efficient scramble spectrum
1x class 2 pulse laser efficient oversized
1x class 1 multicannon overcharged/efficient emmissive munitions
1x class 2 multicannon overcharged/efficient corrosive shell

On the multicannons the mod depends on how much power i have left on the powerplant. But this is a good combination for me to even kill elite anacondas and FDL's.
She can also be set up as complete combatship since she reaches pretty good shield stats and armor hitpoints when fitted only with combat stuff and nothing else.

Right. Thanks for the replies. I allways thought beam lasers were superior to pulse lasers.

I fully agree here, i like beams also more than pulses but the Asp has just a class 4 power distributor which makes it quite difficult to run beams. They suck the PD so fast dry, that you get much higher dps over time when using PD friendly weapons ;)
 
It depends on how much sustained fighting you are going to do. If it for fending off pirates between missions, I go with 2 medium Pulse or Beams and 4 missile racks. Since the Missile racks are type one they are not going to last for multiple engagements like RES hunting, but once the shields are offline, 4 missile racks really kill armor fast. Don't do the Beams without high level of efficient engineering they will eat up your power.

For RES hunting, 2 m pulse and s 4 multi-cannons work well for me. By the way all of this is PVE.

I actually really like flying in it, drifts like anything but an asp boosting at 550ms^-1 is funny. So is the damage if I can can land any shots.

Call me slow but I've only started assassination missions and I've actually taken on elite Corvettes and won with this; pve only.
