Weapons question v Thargoid scouts

Hi.

I've outfitted a Vulture as a scout hunter, but I'd like some advice re weapons.

Firstly, this is purely for Thargoid scouts (I have another ship for the bigger guys), so I'm not interested in damage to NPCs or other CMDRs. Secondly, I'm absolutely crap with fixed weapons (please don't tell me to "git gud" or any other such fatuous sayings), so they're pretty much out.

AFAIK, that only really leaves turreted AX or conventional turreted/gimballed weapons. I'm thinking gimballed multi cannons. My question is would G5 gimballed multi cannons do more or less damage than turreted AX multi cannons?

If anyone has any other ideas, I'm open to suggestions.

Cheers.

Get the turreted AX, they do shred scouts, and imo much much faster than regular gimballed multis.

Yes, turreted AX multis work better then gimballed normal multis. But I would be bored to death, no real targetting, you don't even have to do pip management with AX turrets ;)

What I did was pair 3 large AX multi turrets with 2 railguns (later one rail and a gauss cannon) on a Krait MkII. The AX multis did all the hard work, which left me free to learn how to use the railguns. It worked really well. If I was scout hunting today I'd use the same setup. Fast and efficient and fun.

Yep, i agree with this, its a great way to learn how to use fixed weapons. The large turreted AX multis kill the scouts anyway, even if you miss a great deal with the gauss initially.

Happy hunting o7

I got from 0% Deadly to Elite using a FAS designed only for Thargoids. Two large AX Multi-Cannon turrets and two medium Gauss Cannons. It worked very well. Sometimes I used two fixed AX Multi-Cannons instead of the Gauss Cannons for variation.

I use a pair of gimbal efficient beams with thermal vent on my Vulture, and these come very close to matching the damage of turreted AXMCs (which seem to miss a lot in my experience) and they do not run out of ammo.

With my current build, I can fire these nonstop will 4 pips to weapons, and even with just two pips to shields, it is very rare those shields ever go down.

I think I've seen a few people say that ax multicannon turrets are the most efficient way of killing scouts. Doubt they're the most fun though.

Still, if like me you like just seeing bits of dead thargoids everywhere, this would seem to be the best choice.

Yeah, a nicely armoured T10 with 4x AX Turret is fun vs scouts. Though currently I'm trying to get together an AX Cobra so I think I need to master the fixed weapons for extra DPS - it's not going well so far
