Weapons wanted?

Hey all

After entering a few systems and seeing on a couple of occasions these "weapons wanted" markers on my scan/screen - this time upon seeing one and after just picking up some weapons cargo pods I'd found from investigating a "unidentified weak signal" - I decided to go investigate this/them/it and see if I could sell them my weapons cargo.

So I cruised to them and dropped out of fs to be faced with 3 heavy ships one of which was-saying "buying weapons" etc.
However no matter what I did or how I viewed the situation I could interact with them in order to sell weapons.

So what is with them "weapons wanted" ships in war zones - and can you interact with them in any way?

You just buy a load of whatever they are seeking and fly to about 1000m and they use black magick to teleport the cargo out of your holds and wire you some credits.

To find out what they are seeking, fit a cargo scanner and scan them. They will have some cargo already and that's what they are looking for.

The most common i have come across is Mineral Maggie who wants the ''red crystal'', that's Rutile to you and me, there is ''Seeking luxuries'', Seeking Weapons, Seeking Consumer Tech and so on and so on, I think I have seen about 7 or 8 different Type 9's looking for goods. They usually turn up when there is a ''Boom'' state in one or more of the factions in that system or a civil war breaks out and needs supplying with weapons. Like stated by Bunneh and Steve, get within 1000 meters and they use black magic from the Dark Wheel to transfer all your goods to their ship and a little bit of your soul too ''Nemes''.

They usually pay about 100 to 150 credits per ton over the Galactic Average CMR DoubleSkulls, sometimes a little more, but they are suitable because they often are found within very easy distances of the stock being found at around a 1150 to 1250 a ton profit and no station docking so a quick transfer. They also send out a little window so you can choose how much of your stock you wish to sell I think I remember, been a while since I sold weapons to one, with an Anaconda I tend to stick to big population stations with high demands and high stocks, even then a station will drop the prices a little each time you supply more and more of one commodity to them, I do not remember a drop in prices from a Type 9 ''Seeking Weapons'' or from any for that matter chap, so they are a high profit short term Boom-time occurrence CMR DoubleSkulls.....grab them when you find them if your at a 200 ton cargo hull or below chap.

I saw these in a war zone in a local system.

Having no weapons I scanned the traders in the "Seeking Weapons". There was a selection of traders from different factions, including one side of the war if I remember.

The question I have -does anyone know if there is an influence and/or rep affect based on the faction owning the trader if you trade weapons with a particular trader?
Same question for Seeking Luxuries, as there are different faction traders in these zones as well.

Cheers

Simon
