Wear and Tear Costs are Wearing Me Out and Tearing Me Up!

Cheaper to Self-Destruct My Cobra vs. Rapair it!?

I gave up trading because I could not make any significant money and felt I was just spinning my wheels. So I went bounty hunting which is really the PEW! PEW! gameplay that I enjoy, so I was excited at the thought of making some financial progress while also having fun.

I spent several hours bounty hunting and had a blast. Was excited to turn in my bounties because I made 123K. So excited at the prospect of enjoying the game AND earning money at a rewarding pace.

Then I checked my wear and tear..... 165K!?:S

Dreams crushed. I'm running out of patience fast. :(

How did it get that high? I'm flying quite a bit, and I check it every time I dock. It takes forever just to hit a repairable 99%, which in my Lakon 6 is about 1200cr or so? Something like that, it's negligible. That's after hours and hours mind you.

If you stay on top of it, checking to see if you can repair it at each docking, it doesn't seem bad at all to me.

Yeap, that is pretty much a big issue right there.
Been there since Gamma and players has talked about it.

Be careful what targets you intercept in super cruise, as coming out of successful interdiction means you will receive hull damage, means a hefty repair bill. Only when a target submits will you take no damage from interdiction. Try to go after targets with 10.000 credits or more, stay away from Pythons unless you know what you are doing, and probably Anacondas too, ASP is usually a pretty easy prey.

For now, I would recommend you to go to Anarchy system NAV beacon and hunt there with Kill Warrant Scanner. Every NPC will appear as Clean, but if you KWS them, they will often have bounties on their heads. In anarchy system there is no security or penalty for attacking.
Finally hunt for USS, often enough you will find wanted NPC's in those.

Interdicting someone without that person submitting will result in your ship spinning and taking % hull damage. For my cobra each successful interdiction cost me 5000 credits.
You will notice that repair bill when you super cruise 500.000Ls.

Yea, when interdicting in my asp, I PRAY that they submit so I don't take damage. Also, I've noticed that you take more damage when interdicting someone from further away, so now I try to get much closer.

well, think I'll just stick to nav beacons if interdicting is costing me so much... I can just as easily hunt there...no need to interdict? But I suspect nav beacons are less rewarding targets, idunno.

2 more hours, NO interdictions, and wear and tear is $402K!? WHAT the *(^%*&$^*!@!

I've just been jumping around and exploring too!

It was like this in the second to last gamma release. That got fixed but seems to have reverted in one of the patches soon after release.

Ticketed. No frikkin way this is normal. I'll take the permanent 30% integrity hit. This is BULL DOOKIE!

Just don't bother with wear & tear, seriously i have never once clicked that W&T button and still have not noticed any form of loss. If you are taking hull damage then you've already failed and its only Hull that it affects ;)

Something must be up. I flew for about 20 hours, completely forgot about wear and tear, when I remembered and went to check it was only about a 1,000cr to do. In a Cobra also.

Check it, it's at a couple of k, np. 3 jumps, land with no interdiction, 85k.
What, did I turn throttle up too fast and break something?
I hate not having a pristine ship, but it's killing any trade profit, I have to leave it now.
