Wear and tear.

Wear and tear was interpreted by me to be a very important and key part of the game.
With paint faiding due to the sun.
With dirt being added to the ship during long travels.
With Paint being torn off during combat.

To an extent all of that is present in the game.
But the original versions shown and present in the first betas had sharper edges on the parts that got cut off. it looked realistic and rugged.
Now , on most ships it looks off. it looks like massive circular parts have been pealed off.

As you can see its not a big thing , but I do wish the damage was more of a thing.
In fact I think one way that could be fixed is if the 1.5 permanent damage decals could come back (Did we ever get a statement on those?)

Its just , when you see that some of the very round removed parts of paint are not only smooth but around the same size as the CMDRs head , in fact bigger than him/her in most cases its odd.
I do think that smaller damage should be found around it. as well as more variations and different types of wear.

Dust from planets
Dust from astroids
Leaks
Impact marks
Paint degredation
Paint fading

Again , its not core to the gameplay but it was/is one of the features that made me think ''this is the game'' and to see it used as nothing more than a token side feature is a shame
 
Is there a damage off setting? I ask as the other day I came back to station and was down to less than 50% hull, but when I had a look, it looked fine, not a scratch.

Wear and tear is not fully linked to the damage of your hull.

Its a visual effect that is given to the ship over time based on your actions. (like flying in FSD for a long time , etc)

In beta 1.5 there was damage decals for hull that stayed on ships , even after exiting the game , but they have sadly been removed
 
How it is as more anti aliasing more is more dull. It's look more like paint than scratchs.
How you wanted it to be as anti aliasing problem more the ship really look scratched.

Indeed some job could be done on that side !
