Weather Effects

I dont think anything has been confirmed as of yet.

Personally i would like to have this realistic as well in the way that indoor rides might become more popular during rainy days. (to make it simple, any ride and/or que line placed under a roof could get a popularity boost when it rains)

Aye plus we need the umbrella stall again and watch them all open up when it rains or poncho's being available as well.

unconfirmed memory of someone saying that they're going to try to put weather into the game by release but it's likely going to come after.

I do also have an unconfirmed memory of someone saying that. I think they said it was quite low priority at this stage of I recall correctly. But it is something they definitely wanted.

I guess when it happens depends on how seriously they take it. Adding a last minute set of weather effects should be pretty straight forward. But as Vampiro says, it could also be worked in as a gameplay mechanic. That would be great, as it would be a genuinely new addition to the simulation. Tricky though, they would have to get all scenery to provide shelter from rain as in this game the roof could be formed from any combination of scenery. I imagine the physics required to get rain to run across all types of surface might be an FPS killer.

wouldbe super awesome if the weather will have an impact on the game. im thinking of mud puddles on natural paths. or very strong winds. i would also love to see guests looking for a place to cover if its raining to hard.

I understand that it can be difficult to implement this into the game, but it would be amazing if It could work. A nice storm or something, I know I'm going to get grief for saying this but the weather on RCT, the rain and thunder storms would be incredible.

We all like RCT here! (Just not the latest 'thing' they're selling lol).

I totally agree. And the old RCT weather is pretty simple stuff. It's getting it to interact with the surfaces in the park that might prove difficult. I'm sure there is a way though..

Jacking up the price of umbrellas when it starts raining has been part of RCT ever since the first game, I'm sure it will come eventually but maybe as free DLC if they have bigger priorities before launch.

I dont think that would be an issue, i'm sure they can use a similar effect that you see in games such as Cities Skylines. Things just 'look' wet and you get the rain effect in the sky but theres no actual water physics going on, water running off roofs etc.

Would certainly be interesting to see if this could tie in with making covered eating areas and sheltered rides busyer than open ones.

But how would that acheive Vampiros idea (that I replied to) by making dry areas over queue lines?

I was over in Orlando Florida recently and on the day I was at Universal Studios Tropical Storm Colin rolled in. I never saw rain like it!! I had to buy a poncho to keep dry and it was a wonderful experience walking around the park in such torrential weather. I'm all for weather in the game, bring it on!!

As I said, sheltered rides should do better. I'm sure it's relatively easy if they are going to code in weather to put roofing as part of the algorithm and make it work better if roofing is used.

It would work if only roof sections acted as a barrier to the water. But then making an area covered using none roof parts (quite likely the way people build in this game) wouldn't work.

My point was, that if all scenery acts as a barrier the processing load would be huge. And if only roof sections, it would potentially limit creativity as you would have to choose between happy guests or complete creative freedom.
