Weather:

After the last live video and just seeing all the amazing things going into this title I am reluctent to suggest or even request another thing, seriously! I am just amazed at the details of this game and just think "Man, I can't ask for another thing!" but here I am thinking ok, it never hurts to talk about it! ;)

So I am wondering and hoping the devs are actually thinking about weather types down the road. One of the things working at a theme park back in the day was weather and how much it effects the echo system of the entire industry for obvious reasons. When light rain hit only the most extreme rides would close and only the most ellusive would run for cover so not to get a drop of water on them (which I found ironic sense people would do this coming off a water ride hehe) then when the rain turned to lighting we would have to shut our rides down and people would book it to the nearest shelter, overhangs or restaurant in the park.

So with the details so crazy on the guest in the game, I am wondering .... nay suggesting that I would love to see this sort of reaction from parks within PC. Well .. At least I am hoping for such when the devs read this ! :) What do you guys/gals think? Over kill am I reaching? I would like to think I am not :)

What about the coasters that are entirely indoors, underground, or otherwise sheltered? (As in how "Extreme" a ride is in this game wouldn't account for how sheltered it is from the elements.... I think accounting for that would be one of the challenges of any weather system...

Oh I totally agree, during these high weather conditions if there was no lighting but only heavy rain the flat rides so to speak would remain open along with all indoor entertainment for obvious reasons, but yes, if something is fully covered it should be flagged as open I would think. Question becomes does their current development notice things such as this or not? Curious question indeed :)

I absolutely love your ideas about rides. Rollercoasters and water rides are usually the first to close when inclement weather hits. The question (as you guys have already pondered) is if the game can recognize when a ride/rollercoaster is indoors or not...

But it would be amazing to see this. And it would add a lot of realism to this game!

I like the idea Im just not sure if it would be possible. Figuring out what is considered "indoors" could be tough, like what if part of the ride isn't covered completely. Would it be based primarily on the station platform? Would it have to be completely enclosed? Would it be based purely on rooftops or fully enclosed with walls, what about openings for doors, paths, etc. Guests hiding from the rain and heading indoors would be really cool. I just think for simplicity sake, they should let the rides continue when it rains lightly and stop when its lightning.

I am curios to see how they handle weather. I don't really like the idea of going to an amusement park when its snowing, but there's been rumors and I do want to see snow in this game. I want to see realistic guests and snow doesn't seem realistic, but hopefully they can make it work. Like will guests wear shorts or winter clothes? Ponchos would be cool to see in combination with umbrellas for when it rains.

I would rather them figure out a more in depth time system (see link in sig below)

The biggest problem with rides closing due to bad weather is that the game does not run on real time. A few minutes of rain could be a day or two of heavy downpour, leaving you with half a week lost of sales. It would have to be implemented very carefully, as creaper alluded to.

Not sure I want weather extreme enough to require rides to shut.

For me it will be quite enough to see those (expensive) park-umbrella's popping open when it rains, and my (expensive) restaurants filling up.

...mwah-ha-hah... I'll get me filthy hands on their lovely loot, by hook or by crook, so I will... [pirate]

How about inclement weather has a higher chance to break down rides so its our responsibility to close them. That could be a fairly simple way of making it so weather effects the rides. Im not sure how the indoor thing would work. Maybe they could somehow have a region under a piece that the game could recognize as under cover.
